This week, the Justice Department began legal action against landowners and municipalities who have refused to give government surveyors access to their land.

Being from Texas, I have friends who own ranches near the border. They've worked hard for that land and have made it home. I know they would be extremely upset at having to give up what's is so important to them. In fact, they are upset...
-
Upset because of why? Is it because they make money off of illegal immigrants? Or are they just waiting for someone to sneek across the border and set off a dirty bomb?

Well the individuals I know are not making money off of illegal aliens. In fact, they're not doing anything illegal. They're trying to live their lives, have families, ranch their livestock, (invite me down to ride some horses lol) and not have a large fence up and around a place they grew up in.
Also, I think we all care about our borders; About the drug dealers and terrorists hopping over so easily. But fences don't work! If a large mass of water can't keep the Cubans from heading to Miami, I doubt a fence will be helpful. And if we care so much about protecting our borders, why not take a look at Canada's border. The security measures there only allow people to keep a lookout and, for those crossing, to report to customs. I hate to bring race into this, but it seems maybe folks are afraid that Mexican families are coming in. A wide assumption? Maybe but what kind of assumption is it to think that everyone along the borders is just lending a helping hand for people to cross over.
And one last thing, the friends I have who own land along this border are Mexican-Americans and have been harrassed enough due to Texas rangers/highway patrolmen making assumptions or making them fearful despite being legit Americans. Now they have to be bothered with the government too? It's hard for them to trust the law anymore because of what they've been through in the past and now! Tamez is right! It's time to not back down. It's time that the U.S. adhere to the Declaration of Ind. Did you know that the "pursuit of happiness" also refers to estate? And now the government wants to invade that? It's kind of ridiculous. I wish the government would act smarter in protecting not only this country, but our "unalienable rights" as well.

And as if I couldn't shut up about this enough, our gov't is currently becoming scarier (watch the video). So if it seems like these people who own land around the border are making a big deal about this, it's because they fear that if they open up this one door, a flood will come rushing in. It's time to fight back before we lose the power to fight at all.

I am sorry if your friends have been treated badly and I have nothing against Mexican families. If they think that their land is not on the exact border, maybe they should hire a surveyer. If it is exactly on the border then maybe they should have purchased land in a different place. I would feel the same way if they wanted to put up a fence with Canada and I am all for that as well. It is not about coming in, but about coming in legally.

what do you mean by "American, no "R" no "D" just American" ?
i defiantly think race has something to do with how the public feels about our boarders. it's really sad that the word "Mexican" has kinda become a four letter word.

I do not like partisan politics and that style of voting or that style of money raising. I am not a Democtat "D" nor am I a Repulican "R". I am a free thinking American. We need to adopt a new funding method to get rid of the powerful party politics. They spend too much time poining fingers at each other instead of doing what WE THE POEPLE want them to do.
