The AP reports that Barack Obama reversed a two-month downward trend by raising more and spending less. He took in $52 million in June, more than twice the nearly $21.5 million raised by John McCain. Obama had $72 million cash on hand to McCain's $27 million.
The Politico points out that Obama raised $25 million on the last day of June alone:
His one-day haul represents nearly half of his monthly total and more than Republican rival John McCain generated for the entire month. During the month, McCain did not have a single day in which he raised a million dollars.

I wouldn't be surprised. I signed up for email reminders on barackobama.com a while back and there is an email that comes out close to the end of every month reminding potential donors to give.
Good job guys.-

My guess he will do even better this month. Wouldn't be surprised if he passed the RNC war chest in money. The polls are about as accurate as the last two elections.

So, the economy is failing, people are starving all around the world, and these guys are pulling in millions of dollars a month for commercials? Something seems wrong here......

No more war mongers at the helm. Good night McCain!

Yes we can! Barack Obama is the man!
-
Can these donations translate to votes? Only time will tell.
I just heard on "The Veiw" that Mick don't know how to use the internet, and he plans on learning how b-4 he get in the White house.
YOU FINISH, THIS GUY MAKES MY HEAD HURT!! -
These donations are votes. More power to Obama to affect the change we want in Washington D.C.

Yes, 25 million that could have given people healthcare and food. What BS. And of course, it's all coming from dirt poor Americans who have to worry about surviving... yeah, right. This entire political system basing the popularity or 'electability' of a candidate on the amount of money he or she can raise for thirty second soundbite ads is getting stale. Money shouldn't run elections, qualifications should... but then I guess if it did we would really see they all have no clothes when it comes to that. I guess this also shows you can even vote to take the civil liberties of Americans away and they still send you money... how sad. And of course, this will make it to tv here. All Obama all the time.
-
Whether people are willing to admit it or not Barack Obama is something the political scene has never witnessed before. Some people fear change others embrace it. Unless you relish fear it's time to get your arms and mind around the movement and get used to President Obama.
-
those email blasts really know how to guilt you into donating. I donated the last day in June. Obama is worse than my friend who always asks me to spot her for a drink.
-
One day Obama is behind McCain in funds, 25 million dollars later and he isn't anymore!
-
Let's just hope he can keep pace considering he's going to have to keep up this pace pretty much all the way up to the elections (and maybe even the White House?).
-
well he is going to need all the money he can get from the poor folks to beat my man mccain
-
McCain is finished. He will flip flop his way out of the race, money or no money. He can't remeber anything he says/

Barrak is all talk! What significant accomplishments has he had in his political career so far? Please i'm honestly just curious...anyone with answers?
-
It would be another major blunder if you guys let this one slip through your fingers.
-
OK, so he can raise a lot of money. What does that have to do with America other than people are willing to give their money to yet another person they see on the TV screen?

As long as it's not "the McSame Sh*t" in the whitehouse!!!

Um, someone commented that the reason Obama isn't accepting public funds is that he doesn't want to take money that wasn't donated specifically to him. While I support Obama, this wasn't the story last year when he wanted to accept public funds if his opponent did. Now that he's a proven money making machine, he's changed his tune. This a no-cap campaign that, while riding mainly on small donations from individuals, (a good thing) does sort of go against his stated principal from before, that elections should not be based on who the successful fund-raiser is. I guess that changes when it is "your guy" making the money, huh?
-
When you're up against the RNC, which historically has out raised and out spent the DNC (mostly from lobbyists and special interests) there aren't many other options left. Since McCain decided he will accept lobbyist/special interest money (no surprise there) in addition to public funds, the only way Obama can even dream of competing financially is by accepting public funds as well.
The difference is that over one million individuals donated to Obama compared to over half of McCain's "fund raising" comes from corporations, lobbyists and special interest groups.
Power to the people indeed! I'm thankful that Obama is tech savy and able to engage the public on such a level compared to McCain who has yet to understand how emails work! (And sadly this is not a joke...) -
Apparently if their political careers failed politicians would make great beggars. Hey man, spare some change for change?

Everyone in politics knows that it's not the will of the people, or even the pressure groups that determine policy and who gets elected, but rather whoever is funding the election campaign. It seems that Obama has asked "Well in that case, why don't we get the PEOPLE to fund the campaign?"

impressive . when he doesn't get elected i hope he gives all those peeps a refund , they'll need it .

Great to see that people waste money on a dreaming politician than to put that money towards GOOD use during an economical crisis such as the one we're in and will be for years to come if we go to war in afghanistan and the rest of the world. Im not gonna vote at all, and i am totally happy with that decision.

Goolkasian blurted out:
JAN FOR GORE
You are still complaining. Go study what CRAZY MCCain has planned for this country. Or better yet go back and look at the chaos Bush has caused.
Obama's 25 Million comes from real people. People giving hard earned money because they are impressed with OBAMA. God Damn it
OBAMA is a GOOD man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And you are still a rude obnoxious person. I WAS COMMENTING ON THE ENTIRE SYSTEM which has been bought and sold and which is very relevant to the current state of this country seeing that nothing has changed. Obama plays by the same status quo rules then blows smoke up our butts. And I don't need to look at McCain, he is just as PHONY as the rest of them. If you are too ignorant to understand that, perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself so you don't constantly embarrass yourself. It is this very preoccupaiton with GREED AND MONEY and putting party over country that got us into what we have now. And stating an opinion here is allowed by ALL. It seems however that certain Obama supporters want to shut people up just like the Bushies. But that's not surprising I suppose since they also think him a good man for giving Bush what he wanted by voting our civil liberties away... again, ignorance is bliss.-
At least Obama has the sense to involve the American public in politics. True enough, there are many who would rather live the status quo than to embrace change. Good thing their are many fearless individuals out there!
