Nas is turning his words into action as he’ll join ColorOfChange.org and MoveOn.org in delivering a 600,000-signature petition to the channel’s Manhattan studios tomorrow afternoon. The petition demands that Fox “end its pattern of racist attacks against Black Americans including presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.”
-
Whether you agree with Nas or not you have to respect him actually following up on what he says....
-
Fox isn't racist! They hate everybody. That just happens to include black people.

Well, it's always exciting to see people stand up to Fox and its horrible values. Those monsters are the enemy of democracy in the truest sense. It's most disappointing that conservatives don't stand up and protest Fox for perverting their ideals and capitalizing on their basest intentions. Flat out war/fear mongering, hate preaching, rumor spreading degenerates.
-
Speaking of racism...how many white rappers can you name off the top of your head?
Perhaps Nas doesn't understand if Fox is criticizing Obama, it's because he's a Democrat, not because he's black. Or perhaps Nas is smart enough to know this but is crying racial discrimination to get free attention for his record sales? Fox is about promoting Republicans regardless of what color they are, trying to skew that into racial discrimination just to get attention is twisted and blatantly obvious if you ask me.
I liked Nas' music when I was a kid, but this crap seems like he is just playing the race card to get free publicity and attention at Fox's expense, which is b.s.
Personally I think it's disgusting and shameful. I'm all for Obama, but I can't stand Jesse Jackson.
Point and case.
Nas is just exploiting his race and the system for profit.
Several of the comments from Fox are definitely in bad taste, and I personally find Fox in the wrong for "below the belt" attacks and stereotyping Barack to be anything like the less-then-ideal culture from which terms like "baby's mamma" originated, but they are political, not racial attacks. "Fox's" comments are in fact just comments from a handful of people, and labeling an entire organization racist because of the actions of a few, never mind that the comments were more likely partisan than racial in nature, is in fact blindly racist.
If he wants to protest, start a blog and attack the specific people for their specific comments, not an entire organization just to get press coverage. Better yet just start an open debate about it.
Some of my best friends have been black my entire life. A handful of people at Fox may have been wrong in their comments, but now Nas is more wrong for trying to make it into something racial and generalized, which it's not.-

Fox sucks.

Speaking of exploiting race, didn't the NAACP bury the N word last year?
Yes they did.
And then Nas comes along and names his album that....to make the world a better place or to get publicity?
It pisses me off that I come down on people who use the n word only to find people like Nas taking advantage of it.-

MoveOn. Now this is a hate grouop. -
Dont completly agree with Nas on this, but illmatic is still one of my favorite disks of all times.

Knock 'em out Nas! My sig is on that petition! Fox is a joke and needs to be held to the fire for its continual pro-war stance. Best of luck!

Nas's "NIGGER" Chorus Lyrics
I'm a nigger, he's a nigger, she's a nigger, we some niggers
Wouldn't you like to be a nigger, too?
To all my kike niggers, spic niggers, guinea niggers, chink niggers
That's right, y'all my niggaz, too
I'm a nigger, he's a nigger, she's a nigger, we some niggers
Wouldn't you like to be a nigger, too
They like to strangle niggers, blamin niggers, shootin niggers, hangin niggers
Still you wanna be a nigger, too? True..
So this is the man who is pointing a racist finger at "Fox News?"
Interesting.
I guess he's just practicing free speech and being an artist. Wink wink.
I can't believe how good a writer he is, what a chorus!!!
I kind of feel sorry for people like Nas, so misguided. -
gangsta
-
Unlike most rappers, Nas is intelligen, so this actually means something.
However the petition isn't going to change shit.
As long as Murdoch is at the helm, Fox News will do whatever Fox News wants to.-

(Please read this in your best illiterate hillbilly accent, and know that these are but a few, albeit the minority, of the people who live around me) ( I have heard some of this ignorance firsthand, and my children know better)
As a right wing "good christian conservative" I say this is just wrong. You will not stand and tell the greatest powers of propoganda anything they do not want to hear. I am a patriot, I don't want to know about 6000 american soldiers commiting suicide. I don't want to hear about billions of my tax dollars being lost. I vote for the conservative to tells the best fairy tale. How could you dare impeach my messiah. He does not LIE, he tells a great story. Fox news just helps him with the finer points of his story. How dare you liberal socialists challenge my messiah. He told me GOD wanted him to be president. And I know God would speak to a good ole boy like George. Hell, he was born a millionaire in Conneticut, raised in the finest prep schools Hitlers money could buy in New England and became GOD'S cheerleader at Yale ,thanks to daddy's donations.Just cuz Georgey got C's in school don't make him less of a messiah than the fact he ain't no TEXAN. It is not the duty of the media in America to report the facts, Just tell me what I wanna hear, cuz if yer gonna cut out edumacation fer my yungins I need a TV station to tell me it's all gonna be OK. I ain't no racist , but I'd never vote fer no nigger specially one as upity as that Hussein Obama feller.
Make no mistakes people, this is somewhat true in the Appalachian foothills. I am the outcast here. Born in Gary, IN raised on the southside of Chicago. I came here 12 years ago to buy cheap land away from people. I always thought those hilljack jokes were hillarious. Well < I gotta go be a good patriotic American and go shopping. BYE!-

F Nas . i really can't be bothered these days to take time out to determine whose doing a publicity stunt and whose for real . there are more pressing issues than some millionaire "rapper" deciding that he doesn't like fox . F fox too , and anyone who'd be f--ng idiotic enough to care WTH they do , and F anyone who'd care to care about anyone else's indifference to fox .
-
So fight the power has turned into sign the petition?
I admit Fox news is horrible but I wonder how worthwhile this effort will be. -
Nas is great; I love what he is doing. He is using his craft to report on nonsense. Fox really does suck in many ways.
-
Speaking as a Hispanic american, i suggest every white person adding an opinion that state Nas is pulling a "race card" should stop trying to act like they understand what it's like to be an African American by talking about race. Even i dont know what they feel like. Although race itself is a man-made classification, it has degenerated a group of people throughout history, no matter how many people choose to undermine centuries of blood sweat and tears. Racism is only still alive through the stereotypes that Television propogandates and the individual prejudices we choose to keep about people's intentions according to their skin color.

straight up - how many black guys have been killed so far in Iraq or Afghanistan compared to white guys ? wanna cry "racism" ? figure that one out . will Obama make sure that black guys are more evenly represented in the body count ? F Nas .
-
There are millions of people that know what it's like to be black like Nas, the difference is they're not fanning the flames of racism for profit. He is. He's a rapper who under the guise of being a "gangsta style artist", says whatever he can to get attention and sell records. Nas is fairly intelligent compared to most rappers, but that is exactly what makes his behavior unacceptable, because he's causing a scene on purpose for MONEY, not because he is fighting for a noble cause.
Nas has just learned he can sound intelligent to his target audience by speaking about "grown up" things like politics and get the liberals agreeing just because they don't like Fox, not because it's racist, because it's Republican. Shame on all of you who follow but don't separate the real reasons. If you don't like Fox because it's not liberal, that's fine, following in the racist bandwagon Nas is pushing is crap. The audacity to play "oh poor me" when he's made millions in an industry that is completely controlled by black guys is astonishing. He is living the American dream beyond the comprehension of most of his listeners, but he is just saying what they want to hear to make more money, and causing racial divides at the same time, and that just ain't cool.
Give me a break already.-

I commend Nas but the real Question of our time is. Does America want a Black President?...I think this thought scares white America or some white Americans! This is the oppurtunity to pay Black Americans their 40acres and a mule,The question is will they?.....Its time for the old white prejudice politicians and this community of hear no evil see no evil biggots to die! Its Anti-American for lies to just go unchecked and decendants of rich or poor slave owners to live with an attitude of greater than thou. If Martin Luther King lived and ran for President 10 years after he died would he have gotten your vote? If your answer is no than your part of the same problem. In the office of President we need strength, conviction, honesty and the conscienceness of making change for all Americans.Kennedy was killed because he loved all Americans and would not bend on moral principal. In the black community its greatest leaders were killled before America could fully understand their character.Thats pecisely whats happening now assasination.Assasination of one character. Its been done in this country since our four fathers were sworn in.Look at the Indians.Just because your born with might the mightiest can fall.I just hope this country realizes it before its to late! Obama 08' Fox is a television station for followers not leaders.Leaders recognize that the truth is better than saving face.Their all paid actors! Not true journalism. Just listen to Bill Orielly Now thats the true definition of the word NIGGER! ignorant

In response to the comments attacking Nas for trying to use racial issues to profit financially, I have to say, that makes NO sense. Who is the last musical artist that sold a million albums from making "pro black" music? Wake up! Please go to youtube, type in Fox news is racist and view the clip of multiple anchors and guests speaking against minorities, before attacking someone who at least has the guts to speak. I am for Obama because he represents tolerance. Have you forgotten the price some paid for civil rights? Not every issue on the news has to do with race. Blacks who don't want to stand up to corporate bias. are not of the same moral compass as someone like Rosa Parks and might have said "Why you got to sit up front, you still gonna get there!!" Realize that you are FREE!!!!!!!

Why is it OK for Nas to use words like "To all my kike niggers, spic niggers, guinea niggers, chink niggers?" I don't care if he is using it as a satire or any argument anybody wants to use. Why is it OK? Why is it OK for him to use the word cracker, when talking about a white person in this song. Why? Who is he to use such hate filled words in his message and then turn around and point his finger at Fox News for using "hate filled words? Why? What makes him so special that he is allowed to speak in such a way?
Why doesn't anyone on this thread call out Nas for using the same hateful words? Are we to assume that Nas can use those words because he is black? Because he is an artist? How many excuses can we come up with? He can use the words Chink, cracker, spic, nigger, kike, and then turn around and call out an entire News Network for using hateful words? Double Standard, and it looks as if he is going to get another pass from our society as well as profit from his hateful words. I don't see a lot of white country singers using the word "Nigger" in their music, if they did they would be brought down by society. And why would they use that word? That would be racist. However a black rapper can use the words, Kike, and Cracker and he is respected as an artist, speaking his mind. Wake up you fake phonys and smell the double standard in this country. -
For all you guys that have anything bad to say about NAS look at the album cover. Now count the Strikes.Ask your great grandparents, grandparents can they relate or did they add to the count!!!!!!!!!!!!Pricks if you have not been their don't ask....Blacks today still have family members affected by slavery and racisim..If my grandmother hurts for her great or grandparents then I hurt too.White America how far back can you go to know where your from...I can only go back 100 years if that. Remember the saying you have to know where you come from to get to where you want to go ..Show some respect Bastards!!!!! Listen first then repy its pain in those lyrics your just so beyond human to understand!
-
Oh, by the way we say Nigger because we learned how to Own the word and not let the word Own us..I bet yall want it back to...sorry ..Not bad for an 80's babys huh?
-
Nas's comments would hold a lot more weight if he wasn't handing in a petition about hate mongering as a reaction to Bill Oreilly calling Nas out on perpetuating hate by using racism to sell records and create publicity.
MoveOn.org and Nas have been verbally slapped around multiple times on Fox because if you go to the Moveon's site or read some of Nas's lyrics, you see serious hate mongering.
To those who thing Fox is trying to bring down Obama via racism, try watching Fox and deciding for yourself instead of bandwagoning. If you still think so afterwards, then good for you. It's your right and don't watch it. They attack Obama politically, but not racially. There's a huge difference. Afterall, it's a more conservative leaning news broadcast.
I'm not voting for Obama because I don't think he'll make a good president. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin and the people who think it does are the very types who will perpetuate the racial problem.
Can a black man fail without it being because he's black? Can a white guy use the word nigger in the same context of a black guy using it? Can we please stop victimizing black people who perpetuate their own negative stereotypes by doing the things they instruct others not to?
The first thing that needs to happen if you're to kill racism is to make racism not exist between people of the same race. IE: Nigger isn't to be used in the context of a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. And no, dropping 'er' and adding 'a' to it doesn't change the meaning. As a white guy I still can't say either one.
Racism dies the same day hypocrisy does. -
Nas is one of the best LYRICIST to touch the microphone in the hip hop industry. As for FOX, I think it is a waste of time instead; he should focus on writing more potent lyrics and use his power to influence as many as he can to help bring about change reguardless of what any racist corporation or person say and do. Change starts from within. However, people keep underestimating the power of media in this world.....VERY POWERFUL.
If NaS was rhyming about women, money, drugs and cars then the racist people would not have anything to say.
Remember, when they tried to push censorship because of Public Enemy, BDP, Eric B and Rakim and the X Clan was speaking to the people and reaching them.
Since they did not want to infringe on our 1st amendment rights they did tricknology. They pushed the Negative, ignorant and Buffoonery uncle tom artist (which is still on the radio TODAY) to counter attack the awaking minds of young American Black youth.
Support more creative and intelligent artist and do not let these corporate devils define us as a people. -
Watch what you watchin’
Fox keeps feeding us toxins
Stop sleeping
Start thinking
Outside of the box and
Unplug from The Matrix doctrine
But watch what you say Big Brother is watchin’
I agree with Ricky84. A petition? How about all out war on media! A real revolution! -
One of my favorite lines on "Sly Fox" is......
Murdoch on fox
Not A-Team with Barracas
And he hate Barack
cuz he march with the marchers
Nice metaphor reference on the A-Team there.
The A-Team ( H.M Murdock & B.A Baraccas ) always sided with the good and helped the oppressed. Unlike Rupert Murdoch and "Sly Fox".
Hence The line "Murdoch on Fox, not A-Team with Bar
