Being in law enforcement myself you're probably going to think I'm going to jump to the defense of the the officer or officers involved. The reality of the situation?........I REFUSE to make a quick judgement. Many of times the public is always quick to make a decision or judgement against or for someone without knowing the full story invoved. Many times I am called on a call, no matter the degree the call, we put our lives on the line. Just a few days ago a good buddy of mine was making a response call to a noise complaint. What met him there were 7 military dressed mexicans in military flak jackets armed with military weapons of special forces caliber. Unfortunately the officer lost his life in what was suppose to be routine call. Needless to say his 5 and 8 yr old daughters dont understand why thier daddy was killed. Then again.......could you. The press is always very quick to print something negative in order to make sales, for they feel the "good stories" dont sell. Officers are used to the negative impact inwhich we are sometimes covered (like the military) but we continue to do our jobs because ther are so many other people that really need our help. For those people......WE'LL ALWAYS ANSWER THE CALL!!. For those that think we'll back away because you're out to trick us and trap us or kill us....... WE'LL ALWAYS ANSWER THE CALL!!!. Bring it on!

"Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time". If you are going to commit the crime, expect the punishment. And...how many lives of our law enforcement end up in a wooden box at the hands of gang bangers and criminals. I suggest when you are getting raped, beaten, mugged, assaulted, DON'T call 911. I genuinely fear and despise the pOlice. Not only because of all these horror stories, but also because all those I have personally known were bad people. Police = Violent, self-righteous assholes!

I mourn not only this young man but my waning trust of the very people I would hope to protect and serve me when I needed it most.

Well, this is a very sad thing that has just happened. people are not using the taser with much responsibilty. It should be used for protection. And I don't think this was used as much for protection.

i'm not normally a fan of simply throwing people in prison for life but when our law enforcement officials are committing murder, as this undoubtedly was, then they should be locked away for the rest of their lives. they are evil people (no, no shades of gray, simple pure evil)

The biggest "legal" gang in the world have done it again!!! The only way a cop should keep his/her badge is if they dont get all power tripped because of the position they have received. Its far fetched, i know, because of the self defense law but cops should be to "protect and serve" right...what could this individual do if he was handcuffed? Not responding to an officer isnt always a sign of defiance but maybe fear...many blessings of hope to the family.

Something has to be done about police brutality. It can't keep getting swept under the rug.

Christ, now I've been arguing so long about the race exploitation on the Nas issue, I read this headline and my only question is why does it matter that he is a "black" youth? Cops are aggressive assholes by job requirement and circumstance. If they tased him, it stands to reason they didn't intend to kill him. End of case, please throw it out with the racial context as well.

I've had overzealous cops threaten to use a taser on me for nothing. For nothing but not understanding what the overexcited jerks were saying. The cops are wrong for using dangerous force so carelessly as they often do, but why must it be considered a racial thing in this post?

I feel bad for all the people the police have hurt or killed unnecessarily, regardless of race.

This is like the 10th Taser story this month. This tool is being used way to much it seems. What can be done to change this disturbing trend?

I have said it many Times, Cops should get tased after the tase someone they were not meant to tase.

Why would they need to tase him to Death? This is surely Murder as he was already impotent of doing anything since he got shocked.

The problem really lies in the perception of the tool itself. The idea is that it's a non-lethal weapon, and thus restrictions on it's employment seem to be fairly lax; I've heard from a few police officers that often times they'll resort much faster to the taser in order to PREVENT a confrontation, rather than end one.

Yes. Cops are just people too.

But they're people who have guns. And tasers. And sticks. And many other lethal and non-lethal weaponry. With the use of these tools comes an inherent responsibility to see that these tools are not abused. If you are responsible enough to carry a gun, or a taser, responsible enough to be given authority to use it, you should be held to a higher standard of moral and ethical judgment.

This man is attempting to bring some shred of decency to his hillbilly backwoods town.He has been threatened on several occaisons by the "law enforcement" part of their so called justice department.
