Impressive drive. . . his speech felt like the torch of hope and progress of a nation was handed from one generation to the next. . . Cool to be living it!

He has spent his professional life fighting for healthcare, Headstart and so much else that he deserves accolades and all our best wishes during his illness. If determination can kill cancer than I would say he has a good chance.
-
Wow, that was a moving speech. He is an incredible man that comes from an even more incredible family who has endured. I was truly moved when he stated he pledges to be there at the inauguration of Obama in 2009.
-
fantastic speech...not much more to say beyond that.
-
He certainly gave an impashioned speech. Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment. I wish him all the luck in the world in dealing with his cancer but this guy is one of the problems in the Senate. I would rather go hunting with Dick Chaney than go for a drive with Ted.

Amazing speech....hope to see Kennedy win his fight with cancer.

Sorry I actually never knew the girl mary jo or her family.
but it has been 39 years since the accident which was very drunk people in the 60's w/ no guardrails!
I've driven around these islands, sober, for 30 yrs.
it isnt easy.
nobody still knows who was the driver of the car!
if it makes any "mary jo" commentors happy ...many mean nasty hating "locals" around here still spit venom on the subject too.
But for me, as a low income person, No bad can be believed about Sen. kennedy.
He is truly a fine public servant who actually never had to work a day in his life but , he CHOSE to serve as they ALL do but only the bad gets the ink? -
It is truly amaizing how the left-wing idolizes a murderer! How soon they forget.

Well 2patriotic 4u, hmmm, I believe we have a murderer in office....maybe the right wing is good at ignoring all it's currupt ways too.
just a thought. While I welcome other points of view I highly doubt that many of the right are any less guilty of personal mistakes. -
Despite your health, you gave an impressive, inspiring and just amazing speech. You are a Democrat that will stand any test of these hard times. Impressive job! Great speech!
Obama '08!

Let us put the Mary Jo story away in the same place where the story of Laura Bush running into her ex boyfriends car and killing him allegedly while she was drunk has been put.

Ted Kennedy's has been a very well intentioned hard fought service for the betterment of this country that we all love. His speech was well dilivered, focusing on the 'renewal' of our nation, a rebirth for a country that has been dragged through the financial, political and social mud and held by the throat till its last dying breath, by a bunch of surreptitious scoundrels, those occupying the white house now; those who profess to embrace truth, honor and accountability, but do none of those things. Instead they have squandered the American legacy for the profit to be made at the cost of the lives , so sadly, to be lost, at the cost of betraying the public trust, at the cost of the middle class, education, healthcare, and so much that would make America an even greater nation...
It is time for the rebirth of this great nation and Barrack Obama with Joe Biden, given their chance, will occomplish this rebirth, making history and beginning a new legacy for the twenty-first century, for the people of this United States of America and for the people of this world...

To the idiots who still hold a grudge for 39 years and who think they know what happened on Chappaquiddick - Wake the hell up and get rid of the murderer of half a million innocent Iraqis and 4,000 U.S. troops.
Dubya has killed enough people NEEDLESSLY to be John Wayne Gacy's foot servant in HELL!
You people need to grow a brain.
