A fine post. She makes complete sense.
As Obama is the only candidate that can beat McCain, I want folks like Naomi Klein to continue keeping him under the microscope so I can better understand what I should expect and demand from his leadership.

    Naomi is the WOman!

she reps the hopes of the progressive masses & she's not even from the u.s. may i suggest that our homegrown female activists step their game up?
Amy Goodman from democracy now is the only woman in american life that i can think of that fights the good fight everyday...Helen Thomas & the green party presidential ticket of Cynthia McKinney & Rosa Clemente are also quite thorough, but have been even more effectively marginalized.

i think she is marginalizing obama. a man of this caliber doesn't just halt the progress the day after the big vote. i feel she is riding on this 'no plan' theme. look at his platform. she tries to make a point about the same thing happening to clinton - and ends up admitting that it wasn't a problem because he got his stuff together before inauguration. she sounds more like a fear-monger. i do like her willingness to go against the grain intelligently, but i believe she is slightly misdirected.

Good article but Naomi is not Obama our next president, I believe he will have no choice to do nothing
but the right things for us, The bill, the global weather,
health care, financial system are all timed too colapse
when he becomes president. I would rather have a young ambitious president who knows were he came from leeding us out of the coming troubled waters.
    This man is Barack Obama!

Nothing orginal, just a stupid comparison of Bush to Hitler. Of course, Bush never burnt down Congress, or even declared Marchal Law.

Bush actually went to Congress for permission to go to war. Something Herr Hitler never did. When the Supreme Court ruled against Gittmo, Bush complied.

I think it is unfair to campare Bush to Hitler, except that both are politicians.

Hitler was a vegan, against cruelity to animals, against cigrettes smoke, and like cars. Does this mean if you against cruelity to animals, then you are the next Hitler.

Obama has his own little emblem, Hitler had his own emblem, the swastika. Just because Hitler had his own emblem, that does not mean Obama is the next Hitler.

Ms Wolfe is giving dupes what they want to hear.

Listen to her again, mo1y - she is not comparing Bush to Hitler, she is describing how America is following in the footsteps of fascist countries, explaining and illustrating all the parallels between how other countries were slowly sucked into fascism and how the US is in the same manner being sucked into fascism, how all fascist leaders have followed the same steps to entrap their countries into fascism. And she is absolutely right, whether you like it or not.

Klein's got a lot to offer, and I think she raises some good points, but she's unrealistic. Obama will move us in the right direction, but change won't happen overnight.

It's hilarious to me that after all these middle of the road presidents, she expects one day - WHAM - Noam Chomsky is president. Even if Chomsky was elected, he still has to fight massively entrenched forces, etc.

As much as we want change tomorrow, it's going to happen in little steps. Obama's election will be a hugely positive step. I admire Klein pressing for even more, but for heaven's sake, Obama's not even elected yet, don't turn up the heat too much just yet IMHO.

    Thank YOU!

I'm so glad a leader in the progressive intelligentsia has had the courage to stand up and say something about this!

She gives a pretty good description of the progressive dilemma. George W. Bush answered my question about whether to support compromised Democrats or not, but the best way to push our politics in a better direction is still something we have to debate.

Thank you for the post! There needs to be more people like Naomi Klien standing up and not just letting ever politician get a free pass to do nothing because we are scared of what may happen. People need to be held responsible and it's time that we start reining in our politicians so they are concerned about what we the people think, not they the corporations.
