It has emerged that Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan has quit his position after holding talks with the club's owner, Mike Ashley.

Apparently he quit after several, much needed, transfers failed to materialise by the end of the transfer window at midnight last night.

I guess when you say you're club's not gonna win any trophies, you've already got half your foot out of the door...

I'm not sure it is a shock. Keegan yo-yos every year doesn't he? After the comments he made about not being able to compete it was only a matter of time.

This club appears to have the knack of impolding every six months. Over the past 12 years they have made some of the worst signings (Kliveurt, Boumbsong, Cort to name a few) have no patience with managers,(but there again they haven`t exactly been `world class`either) and when Ashley does appoint `King Kev` he seems to have seriously underestimated his intelligence and personality, which apppears to have resulted in his leaving. Who`s next for the job ? Shearer ? Or will Wise come down into a `caretaker ` position, win the next three games and be appointed full time ?
