"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it; because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another; and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," the actor said in a statement.
Political strategist Chad Griffin told the Times that he hopes Pitt's donation spurs more celebrity donors. Recent weeks have been marred by reports the Yes on 8 campaign has seen a huge influx of cash support from wealthy evangelical donors. According to reports, the bulk of the donations have come from outside California.

That is a very generous donation and I wonder what motivated him to do such a thing.
-
I respect him for going public with this statement and donation. I hope it has a positive outcome.

(Sadly) The present voice of strength is that of the celebrity. They have the capability to influence and change - It's good to see someone is putting it to good use.

Oh yeah go celebrity when he agrees with your line of thought.
Why is it people claim not to care what they think until what they think is in agreement with what they think?
Because was there not a hotel person that donated money against this and people were like PROTEST....
retarded.
Brad Pitt's come a long way. I remember the first interview I saw him in and he was the most annoying interviewed celebrity I had ever seen. "You know what I'm sayin'" over and over and over again.
Now he's well spoken and one of my favorite actors. He's in Burn After Reading as "And Brad Pitt" in the credits (meaning he has the least amount of screen time of the top actors in the film). Good movie.
I think that he's smart. I think that it was unfair for people on this website to have attacked Angelina for her stance on politics. I think he should stay not married because what is the point in getting married when you get the milk that you were already after for 'free'? They are not really making a great sacrifice for a stance by not getting married. To those that agree they are making a great point....but to have that view by people that already agree means the stance is sort of a waste.
I still think the same as Brad today as I did yesterday and the same as I thought of him after he decided to help out in New Orleans when the LOCAL government failed the city. He's a smarter man than he was and that's good because progress is the way to go.

This is over overwhelming good news. The fight is still not over. I have donated what I could in the past. But to hear someone with a lot of influence come out publicly and put his money where his mouth is, now that's something to emulate.

Same sex marriage is an oxymoron.
marriage and same sex are just opposite terms
A redefinition of marriage does not make it a marriage
Garriage is not marriage. Bratt Pitt may be financially wealthy but confused of what marriage really is.
Hopefully one day he will figure it out.

I never thought she has so many tatoos on her body!

Is he behind something!!?

This is just another area where regulatory agencies should be tightened."Huge support from evangelical donors"? Aren't the funds used by these bigots actually tax breaks coming out of americans pockets? Churches need to be regulated somehow some way. They are stealing money from the government pure and simple. It is estimated that $10,000,000.00 is spent every year on antigay propaganda. I'm sure Jesus would favor Brad Pitt over them. TAX CHURCHES NOW!

what a buncha sorry misguided phuqs, and how "philanthropically" pathetic. The phgz THRIVE on trumpeting this misperception of being "underpriveleged." They absolutely LOVE your pitious sentiments as if life was harder for them than absolutely anyone else...and only because they really want you to believe they're just "different," but not unlike anyone else... my, how coy...and what a phuqn load. If you really like man-assphuqn you're WAY different than MOST people, and if you look at me or mine as potentially swingin that way, don't get pissed when you're told how sick! And we all know that's happened to us or people we know! In fact, more homo's are sexually-opportunistic than "piously" marriage-oriented! Phuq all the bs!
And don't try to console yourselves too much with Brad dumass here, because it probably only served to save him some "gross" taxes or some publicity to feel important about in a richly homo-friendly media, because God knows there wasn't a REAL family he could find who he could have more honestly benefitted, like putting some honestly underpriveleged kid through college to make a better phukn difference in the world. I'm so sure away from his public "generosity" when he's hidden away in his mansions...he could give a g'dam hell what happens to the rest of us, and that includes you too, panzies or whatever respects you pay to yourself and demand of the rest of us...
but, honing to the point, who does Brad REALLY owe his popularity to? was it these phgtz who've fawned over him so much over the years, or you and I joes taking our gfz to a movie we both might like, while these phgtz waited for DVD to tentatively rent his shit on a boring night they didn't have jack to do? but this group will always love to take more credit than they deserve as for things they've "suffered" and for all the "good" they offer the rest of us, getting their own phuqn way, through propaganda like this shit, all the while recruiting and seducing your sons and daughters to an alternate lifestye that really says there is no such thing as perversity...so engage on suggestion, and do what thou wilt.
Say what you want, as I KNOW you will, and I'll say what the phuq I want TOO you sick reverse-discriminating freaks. It's still a free country...until you get your get your way to silence anything "different"...and then, we'll say of you, my, my...is it little wonder really how things have "changed"!

If he donated it for prop 8,,,what would the attitudes be like then.
-
Thank you Brad. It is a rare quality that a star of your caliber is so secure in his own sexuality and career that he is willing to support gays and lesbians. Your awesome!

Equal pay. Equal say. Equal rights. Equal ability to marry.
