A prudish vicar has turned down a donation of up to £10,000 for his church fund because he objects to the charity do being staffed by bunny girls.

Reverend Peter Wood turned down the offer following complaints from his parishioners, saying "an event with bunny girls is not something that we can be associated with."

One outraged local wrote a letter to the local paper in which they frothed: "I'm afraid that sometime soon we will see the emergence of the Gospel according to Hugh Hefner. God forbid!"

The event's organiser, Amanda Hill, defended the girl's saucy image and accused the church of "living in the dark ages."

"They must have a really low impression of bunny girls," she said, "Just because they dress up in costumes does not mean they have bad morals, most of those girls probably go to church anyway. I'm a female and I do not think that this is exploiting women and just because it will raise the blood pressure of a few men in the pews does not mean that it won't be doing something positive."

Proceeds from the bunny girl-staffed golf and dinner gala will go to another charity instead.

Reverend Wood sounds like more of a politician telling people to 'behave'.. we're in 2008, im sure his church could have done with the dollar and.. what exactly is offensive about a bunny costume anyway?

The church must have too much money if they can afford to be this selective when it comes to accepting donations ...

Aww come on send the £10000 to the Orphanage in Goa India, and my Jesus will clean it up if it is tainted ;)
After all said and done, He has to clean me up every day I am not perfect just forgiven. However, I am not this vicars conscience and if that is what his conscience is saying then so be it he has to live with it not me.
