Most preventive screening looks for explosives or metals that pose a threat. But a new system called MALINTENT turns the old school approach on its head. This Orwellian-sounding machine detects the person — not the device — set to wreak havoc and terror.
MALINTENT, the brainchild of the cutting-edge Human Factors division in Homeland Security's directorate for Science and Technology...

I don't know about the machine, but with the government, ya never know. -
This will never work. Security at airports are never friendly and nice. They provoke feelings of resentment which by this machine's deduction would make them a terrorist.
It's the "Terrorists" that keep taking away our freedoms. That's why we should impeach them.
-
Polygraphs aren't reliable, so how would this machine be any better?

Next they'll be trying to build Room 101...the DHS is looking more like '1984's Ministry of Truth everyday.
-
Its "1984" in 2008.

I wonder if advertisers are going to use this technology for individualized ads. Will the world look like my myspace page with ads telling me sexy young men are just waiting for me to log-on?
-
Holy crap. That's insane. I'm not sure it if works, but I wholeheartedly believe that they will sure try...
A nation of fear. Sickening. If there are really "terrorists" that want to bring america down, I'm sure they LOVE this. With things like this, they win.
-
If they want to do this they could just hire poker pros to look for tells. Save a lot of money on R&D.

Can it distinguish between reality and fantasy?
-
Interesting winning combination, FEAR and PARANOIA brought to you by the US Govt.
-
What. The. Hell!?
Science doesn't even know how to cure the common cold and they want to try to read people's minds?!
This has disaster written all over it. -
Human Rights and Privacy at it's lowest in all Time.
Avoid all American Airports, give them 0 of your money.
-
U.S. troops returning from duty in Iraq will be carrying out homeland patrols in America from October 1st in complete violation of Posse Comitatus for the purposes of helping with “civil unrest and crowd control” - which could include dealing with unruly Americans after a complete economic collapse.
Please cross reference this accusation if you doubt it.

I just don't see how this is gonna work out .. if it can read your mind then so many people would just go blank and they would get nothing
-
Good question huntre. i'm wondering the samething.
-
Just when I started believing the only true privacy is found inside my own head...
This is good and bad... I hope that if it does work, that it is used as a last resort tactic for getting information from criminals- and for that use only!

I still can't really believe this is real? But I checked the date, it's not an old article from April Fool's. And it's not from The Onion. Whoa...
-
If they read my mind at the airport, they're just going to find a really angry California Governor inside.

Well I'm screwed. Every time I have to take off my sneakers and go through the metal detector three times because the button on my jeans sets off the alarm at the airport I want to kill someone. I wonder if this thing will take into account I've already walked through it twice before??

This is one of the early steps towards something much more nefarious: total control over Americans; the Constitution means shit to Republicans nowadays...it's confetti on any other day. Our rights are slowly being suffocated, but then again, have we ever been free? Propaganda can really rape a person's mind to think what it's intentions want you to think. Most have been led to believe that there's a war (or rather two) "far away" from here...where the terrorists dwell (when in fact we're terrorizing innocent people in a sick EGOISTIC-BUSH game)...when there's another WAR brewing here at home. A war against us. Or those who choose not to CONFORM!
