Well maybe we should just stick to the law the way it is now, so we don't have anymore problems, plus we have way more important issues to worry about, than caring who gets married to who, no offense to anybody

Hah! Take that you bigoted sociopaths. And thank you Google.
-
It has been proven again, and again, and again, and again, and again... only those with a stake in it have a strong feeling about gay marriage... gays want it, closeted gays are against it.
The rest of us do not care who marries who. We "straights" get divorced at the drop of a hat, and the rest cheat on each other online, but not allowing gays to marry somehow protects that "sanctity"?
Only closeted gays are against gay marriage.

Thank you Google!
I still cannot comprehend why so many "Catholic" countries in Europe have adopted "gay marriage" and why this backwards country, called the USA, has a f**king issue with it.
This is NOT a free country by any means. Gays and Lesbians are FORCED to be second class citizens and are NOT protected by the alleged freedoms one has as an American.

Google thank you for not supporting prop 8. Now we just need to get enough votes to formally defeat prop 8.
-
Google can go butt %$#@ themselves. I won't use them for anything now.
Shadowtrekker has a very great point. We already voted and it was then over turned by the turd courts! The minority dictates what the majority has to swallow yet again!

I'm glad Google opposes prop 8. It would be very challenging to boycott such an important information company.
Those who oppose equality are increasingly on the wrong side of history. Note in these posts and other posts about equality how much anger they express. Anger comes from fear. They are clearly afraid of gays, but for what? I will never understand.
-
Uroborus8 - what they fear is what resides in themselves. If the Republicans and right wing bible thumpers have taught us anything, it is that the louder you scream against gay rights, the more gay you are inside.
I will say it again... only closeted homosexuals are against gay rights. Why else would they even care?
Truly straight people could give a damn!
-
I for one fear the fact that the MINORITY dictates what the MAJORITY already voted on. The majority voted NOT to allow gay marriages yet the illegal courts ignored the vote. That's not democracy. That's fascism!
I do not fear homosexuality. I have family members and friends that are homosexuals and I love them very much.
Marriage is not a political argument. Its a religious statement. A pact between your creator and you as a couple. If you are not beholding to any religious affiliation, why would you want to get married?
Have a vote on domestic partnership and you got my yes vote! Marriage is different.
ninepounds6 ...come on. Quit being an idiot.-

Powerhungry - I do not believe in a god, ANY god. Yet, if I want to marry the man I love and receive those rights granted by the state, I have to go in front of a preacher and profess before an imaginary god my love for this man.
Just because fools a few hundred years ago tied religion and marriage together to make money for the church does not mean that the rights ot the married are sacred.
There is a difference between religion and human rights, and the two should NOT be tied together.
You keep your rediculous god, but just remember, there was no such thing as religious sanctioned marriage until 1400 years after your beloved Jesus Christ died! It is a tool of the state!

Our country is a representative republic that has checks and balances. It is designed in part to protect the minority from the majority. If the majority supported the imprisonment of all women would that be okay? Or what about a more legitimate historical point, when a majority of southerners supported slavery? Simply put, a majority opinion is not enough in this country. We are not an absolute democracy. The law must stand up to a set of principals set forth in both state and federal constitutions. In this case the California Supreme court decided that banning same-sex equality was unconstitutional. Similarly the minority was protected in Lawrance v Texas. There are thousands of examples of this in our history, and I am grateful for them every day.

You ignorant women. You can go to a Justice of the peace and get married. If you go in front of a preacher, you say those vows in vain. Hypocrite is what I call you and your kind.
Your information is wrong. There were marriages before Christ was even born. It speaks of them in many different texts that have been found.
Even before the English came to America, we native Americans had religious ceremonies that had to do with marriage dating back to a few hundred years after Christ.
Nice try.

can you make an amendment that violates the constitution?
i'm so confused.
-
They are trying to pass a state constitutional amendment that prohobits same sex couples form enjoying the same rights as heterosexual couples that they presently have. California allows a simple majority of their citizens to change the state constitution. The federal constitution is a different monster entirely. It is far more difficult to ratify it. The federal constitution over rides state constitutions, though. If a federal anti-marriage equality amendment passed, it would nullify all state progress towards equality. On the other hand, if we had a Supreme court decision in favor of marriage equality, it would nullify state constitutional amendments throughout the country that prohibit same-sex marriage equality.
You have every right to be confused. Imagine same sex couples who are trying to negotiate each state legal differences as they move and travel throughout the country. You almost have to hire a lawyer before leaving your home state to guarantee provisions you set up before your departure are good in your destination.

People who hate homosexuals, who think homosexuals are unholy, who think they are morally wrong, should all shut the fuck up and get a real life. Go home, think about what you're actually saying, and your real arguments about why Prop. 8 is such a good idea, and you'll realise their are none.
Grow the fuck up
