Read the article! This headline is extremely misleading. While its a good advance its not really what the headline says. They are now only able to use a microscope to peer into a had of an animal while the animal is doing behavioral activities. This capability, at this point, allows them only to see how blow flows through capillaries in the brain, implicating activities of those regions. We are able to see much more in cells that are extracted from brain slices because we can use proper dyes. These extracted cells are alive as well. The importance of this find is the ability to link cellular activity to behavioral activity. This image is also wholly unrelated except for maybe it is a neuron.

It looks like that might be able to shed some light on some important data like rates of blood flow, chemicals in the synapses and electrical signal conductivity that might give a better understanding of how the neurons interact with each other.

Incredible. I wonder if it'll be able to predict behaviour too, based on monitoring blood flow during recognisable moods and feelings and then using that to predict future emotions/decisions based on the way the blood in the brain is moving around.

It all sounds very sci-fi.
Reading to the bottom of the article, it suggests the microscope can read only a small part of the brain, so while its an advance, it doesn't sound like a leap.

Make no mistake, this technology, while being presented as a tool of medical research and a future to various cures, is really being developed as a weapon against human kind.
Once your thoughts are decipherable by computers owned by corporations, which they already are, your every move, especially those against the government, will be tracked and stopped.

That is making the mistake of reducing states of consciousness to brain states which is not possible.
The brain and its interactions can not be an absolute predictor of the mind and the contents of consciouness because even though they are correlated the exterior of the brain does not match the interior of the mnd.
Brain states can be observed but the consciousness of the mind has to be interpreted.
You can analyze the chemical composition of the paper and the ink that a book is made of but that is not going to tell you the meaning of Hamlet that is printed on the pages.

Strange don't see how it looks like a head with mouth wide open tbh, looks quite you know wierd but sort of wat i expected. This is a picture of an animals head as they don't want to have any of a humans head yet [in case they muck up and damage some important bits]

I wonder if in the future they can capture live images of all the brain cells I'm killing along the way.
That would be great if they could track the effects of each beer and pinpoint specifically what memories I was losing as a result.
I didn't need such an over-powered vocabulary anyway.

It would be a very effective method for adverts such as Think! Drive aware things like this. "This is the effect of alcohol on your brain" crash. etc.. ;P would be very useful may make people think twice, could also prove useful for various medial treatments, brain trauma, concussion etc.. for example
