Kenneth Nervik, 61, was arrested in July when authorities charged him with molesting the girls at his Washington Road home.
The state Division of Youth and Family Services received a referral regarding an incident of abuse on June 20, and DYFS reported the matter to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, authorities said.
The nine-count indictment includes charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of the children.
He faces up to 20 years in prison on the worst charge.
Probable cause for the complaint against Nervik lists statements of the victims and witnesses and other evidence.
Nervik is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $425,000 bail.

The trauma imposed upon the children involved is permanent and intensely damaging of all their future relationships. It is entirely inexcusable. If the charges are founded, this perpetrator should never be allowed out of jail because, if true, he has preyed upon the most vulnerable of a captive population. Captive in his own home.
For every horrible story one hears about foster parents in the news, there are thousands of foster parents who are safe, nurturing and understanding
supports for foster children. One must also understand that in the difficult world of foster care, most children understand that they hold an ultimate power of accusation. Most children in foster care come from families who are impacted by mental illness, developmental disabilities and chemical dependency. They often feel trapped and powerless by the system and lash out against their foster parents and social workers.
So, I hope that accusations have been investigated before the parent becomes tried and convicted in the press, and that if convicted in a fair court, a perpetrator of trauma such as this is never let out of jail.
