Fear of people nicking our identities has heightened over recent years, with increasing stories of underground-types stealing our passports and turning into dastardly, criminal versions of us for their crimes - or simply emptying our bank accounts of dosh. A recent survey conducted as part of National Identity Fraud Prevention Week has shown that an enormous 97% of British consumers are worried that companies don't take good enough care of their personal data, while 92% are concerned that their own employer may not be able to keep customers' sensitive data safe.
Adrian Chiles is the figurehead for the new campaign, and says that "Britain's businesses have come a long way in protecting employees and customers from identity fraud, yet, while many have introduced stringent identity fraud prevention policies, more than a fifth of businesses in the UK still don't have comprehensive strategies in place."
