So important was this Frenchman's contribution to our Revolution that on the 4th of July 1917 in the depths of WW I, General John J. Pershing took his newly arrived American Expeditionary Force in Europe to a small cemetary on the outskirts of Paris.
The great stage was set. Many thousands of French people followed the American procession to this little place. The Americans held their ranks with precision as they were snapped to attention. A supreme quiet came accross the crowd as the history and importance of this moment fell to one man, Colonel Charles E. Stanton who drew his sword, faced the tomb of the Marquis and uttered the imortal words, "Lafayette ! We are Here !"
At that beautiful moment, that instant, the entire world heard America's greatness and what it meant to have us as a friend.
We may never be generals, we may never rise to the greatness of a Stanton but I've learned to recognize a moment in history when I see it.
DR KING ! WE ARE HERE !

That smile says it all, he knows how close he is now. This really could be a moment in history; America has seen nothing like Obama in a President before, but McCain is just a carbon copy.

There is no way OBama can lose. It's only a matter of how much he wins by. Let's start taking bets! =P

He can loose by loosing all of the above when it comes to swing states. Say for the moment despite polling he loses New Mexico, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Florida all states Bush won. He still needs 18 electoral votes. Lets give him Iowa because its reasonable to do so, he needs 11. That can be accomplished by winning any of the unlikely tossups of Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, colorado alone will not win him the election however lets say Obama wins Colorado, new hampshie and New Mexico than he wins. He has more than one road to victory he has at least five. Winning Ohio and maintaining all Kerry states which are currently polling in the double digits for him. If he wins Indiana and Iowa, etc. However despite being a larger map than in the past electoral cycle it isn't entirely rosey. Loosing all of the above by a slim margin and winning perhaps the popular vote by a wide margin is also has a moderate chance of occuring.
It is very possible for Obama to win Indiana as the combined vote totals for the state democratic primary between himself and Hillary Clinton exceeded George Bush's vote total against Gore in 2000 when he won by a double digit margin in the state. Since the primary registration totals for the state have topped more than half a million. That is more than 200,000 additional voters just since the primaries and that is without the September and October registrations which are expected to be high. However Obama has only lead two polls this year in the state and McCain and the RNC have just anounced a major ad buy the first for republicans since 1992 the last time Indiana was competitive.
Most polls despite registering McCain ahead are often within the margin of error and many including undecided voters leaves room for an upset victory. Some of those undecided Hoosiers may also be swayed in this close election which is now running razor thin by the percieved slight by the McCain campaign that until now McCain hasn't opened any offices in the state, any ad buys other than national, until this week after his campaign abandoned Michigan. Couple that with McCain's spurning of Hoosier broadcasting Icon Dave Letterman and McCain may loose but it would be a surprise that would shake the conservative movement to its core. Indiana has only voted for FDR and Lyndon Johnson this century.
Virginia is also in play and Obama has polled as many as nine points ahead with an average now above the margin of error. All of this polling has been conducted before McCain's brother Joe McCain called the northern region of Virginia "Communist Country" (this despite the fact McCain owns one of his 7 homes there)
I think that the most likely road to the white house for Obama are wins in Iowa, Virginia, and New Mexico.
