"The View From Over There" takes in an depth look at American foreign policy and how it affects America's image abroad. In this show, we feature a look at how other countries view the US, especially in the wake of Sept 11, the War on Terror, and the War in Iraq. We also hear from citizens of other countries about who they prefer in this year's US election. And finally, we show a unique perspective on the issue of how to handle Iran - an Iranian perspective.
Collective Journalism, Current's citizen journalism program, works by combining perspectives from contributors like you around the world. All month until Election Day, CJ will be airing special investigations into the most important issues of this election.

Luckily they aren't the one's voting for our President. Anyhow, you notice that most middle-eastern people would vote for Obama, or the one's who haven't done much research want him. But anyway, America is the one who'll vote, and we'll just see how our reputation will look after either one of them take office. I'm sure we'll hate the President then too because we care too much about what others think. We just need to get over ourselves. Haha.

Maybe everyone in the world should get to vote for the U.S. president. Since the U.S. pretty much runs the world, perhaps they should all get a say. Otherwise it's really an empire, not a democracy, no?
Anyway, this is a great piece. I look forward to more of this series.

Nice work. If you want to hear more about what people in other countries think about the election, PBS FRONTLINE/World has a whole series called "The World is Watching"....stories from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and many more....

Check it out! Let us know what you think

Amber_Doll2011: Ofcourse people in the middle east would vote for Obama. If McCain wins the election, this could mean death sentence to these civilian people. Either way, this pod clearly gives the wrong impression that there's a good mix of votes for Obama and McCain when in fact, it's quite the opposite. Check the link below:

The world is not that dangerous. Americans just need to travel outside their own backyard a bit more. It's actually your government that tries to create fear among it's people. US media and airport security in the US confirms this pretty well.
Notice how contented the Iranians are in this pod. How are you in the right mind to start war against these people? If Americans want to create a better image, the last thing you need to do is to wage more wars in other countries. The world has had enough of it!!!

It was great to be apart of a team effort of CJ from around the global community. Its an exciting yet engaging time for us to be involved in the global condition. We have to keep speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. Peace,

I love this pod! This type of content is definitely the stuff you can't get anywhere else. We need to expand our international perspective, great job CJ'ers.
-
"Is globalization as good for me as for you in America and the west? or are we the victims of this process?"
This was a great presentation and just another reason why I love Current TV!

Let's hope McCain FAILS!!
-
This is a very special! Keep up the
brilliant work. -
Nah, the USA has always had a crappy rep at least since the fifties.
Clearly merica is under the control of some unseen force, as no self respecting merican on the street would go along what the crap of their gov if they were informed.
Time for USA devolution.

AMERICA FUCK YEA!!! lick my butt and suck my balls...
we're free to do wat we want and half the world is jealous
-
I've traveled to 28 countries in my 26 years (returning many times to several) and definitely noticed a much warmer international welcome before the Bush administration.
While Bush was in power I experienced many confrontations that were dissolved once I explained that a country's government does not necessarily represent its people (although it should).
I sincerely hope McCain loses. The only thing he has to fall back on is conflict and war. He has even stated that the relationship with the Spanish government (a close ally to the US) would have to be "reevaluated".
This statement alone pissed the Spaniards off quite a bit...
-
I LOVE THIS!!
Every American should reach beyond our borders to hear the other side of these discussions and thanks to current I can!!!!!---thank you current--thank you very much. -
I find it really embarrassing that we have such a tarnished image in the world.
On a side note though, It seems from the interviews that Obama supporters blindly support him because of "change", whereas McCain supporters base their opinions on fact.
-
...what fact(s) do McCain supporters base their opinions off of???
I could see the wealthy and corporations supporting him on the FACT that he is going to act on behalf of their best interest but what about the other 35% of the McCain supporters who are voting against their own interests?
Also let me clarify that Bush and his corrupt policy is directly responsible for our tarnished image...McCain offers the same strategy and is already tarnishing our image by offending current allies (Spain) and his stupidity and complete lack of education when it comes to foreign relations.

About three years ago, I had a very interesting (and incredibly random) chat with an Iraqi living in Saudi Arabia during a game of online pool. I took full advantage of it and asked him the question being asked here: what do Iraqis really think about America? The answer was ambiguous in that they hate America, but don't hate Americans. Truly, they do look at us as invaders, yet he estimated maybe 90% of them were in favor of deposing Saddam Hussein. The thing this particular man hated the most was how readily we supported Israel! We came in and killed many soldiers and innocent people, and THAT encouraged hatred of only our government. Seems odd, but that's just how passionate they are about their hatred of Israel.

Did you REALLY watch the video IMMININT??
The McCain supporters in other countries seemed to know about as much about the facts as the uninformed supporters here in the United States.
Many sited that he was older and "seemed" to have more experience--one even said he didn't know all that much about him but thought he would support McCain. We are talking about general support from people who do not follow the true facts because their lives do not rest on what becomes of our country during the next president. really solid support
Great pod-interesting to see the views from other parts of the world--but I am way more concerned with the views of well informed registered voters in the U.S. then anywhere else.

Woah, folks. This was merely an observation. Please do not take my comments at anything more than face value.
I'm simply observing that judging by the people in the video it just seems that many are just saying "He's for Change" and that's all that they're saying for substance.
A valid point was made. These are foreign people being asked about American politics, and of course their opinions won't be as in depth.
-
Get rid of every country's army, and create a world army called THE PEACE ARMY> :} They don't use guns, they use food and cloths and water to take over the world :} and any1 in the world is allowed to join if their goal is WORLD PEACE :} They don't even have to be smart to join.
America you fail.
We are so stuck on war when the world is dying. We should be spending more of our energy on cleaning it up. -
this is in response to AMBER at the top what you dont realize is this has nothing to do with the stand point of the video people like you look at the title of the video and post a comment. The idea explains how we honestly treat the world yes it matters, and yes we should care. It show our standing and how much support we truley have if we need alies in a time of crisis. We attack Irac not because of 9/11 we attacked because of oil we attacked Packistan, Afganistan supposubly for 9/11 If you or we seriously belive that we will be an eternal leading power in the world then this nation is full of idiot. John Mccain is a canidate much like his Palin. They have neither answered a question in the debate they simply pull a texan and two step around it if you don't agree look up the interviews and you will hear what I mean. My point is watch the video before you comment so that you actually have a base for you opinion because without that you have nothing but a jumble of idiocracy spewing out. Its the same as a president if we mis-use the power we have and mis-use our allies and creat confrontation for no honestly apparent reason then we will be taken down harder than marie antoinette and king louis xvi

I only hope the rest of the world knows that our horrible government and awful foreign relations do not reflect the views of all of the American people. I care what the world thinks of my country, I hope for the day I can be proud to be an American again...the day my government is actually a representation of me.

As a liberal,I have often disagreed with our governments policies and decisions but never before now did I think we were "the bad guys".The bush administration is truly embarassing.
-
I hear from bands that travel the planet for tours, that their usually surprised about how much discontent the rest of the world had for our government. Not a far stretch from what a lot of Americans think as well.

I like the piece from the guys from the "listening project", very cool. Just to complete the mix there though, would´ve liked to see you interview a person from Latin America.
