The Frankenliberal

For years I have listened to right wing lunatics, like Rush Limbaugh, describe a liberal who does not exist. Right wing radio is full of non-stop blathering about what Liberals think and say, usually without documentation of any sort. Basically, the right wing has created a Frankenstein type monster, made of up liberal parts. It is the Frankenliberal and it serves one function: To keep the right wing hordes afraid and active, always working against their common enemy.

The Frankenliberal wants to abort all babies three days before they are born, and then toss them in dumpsters. He wants to lose the war because he hates the troops and loves the Iraqis. He wants to hug and talk to al Qaeda, instead of fight them. He hates America. He lives to slander America. He will do anything to make sure the Palestinians destroy Israel. He wants to teach sex education to children. He wants gays to be able to have sex anywhere, anytime and probably in front of children. He believes that most people are stupid and should be cared for at all times. He wants the government to do everything, except go to war. He thinks illegal immigrants should be able to do whatever they want. His taxes can’t be high enough. He has no morality. He is a socialist. He hates all religion, but especially Christianity. He wants to take away everyone’s guns. He wants to discriminate against whites to help minorities. He hates all rich people and wealth.

On and on the list goes. If you are a liberal, think of the most insane position you can, and Limbaugh has probably told his audience that's what you believe. That's all they do on AM radio.......Click on link above for full story.

I think liberals in general do the same thing with Republicans - not conservatives per se, but the party itself. They're all rich old white men who plot in their offices at night how to take over the world through the Bavarian Illuminati or whatever. I don't think either side is right in doing so, but damn, Rush followers sure don't want to think for themselves...

    Proud FrankenLiberal!

I'd rather be that than the lying stinking drivling, hillbilly heroin addicted Rush!

Such a hipocrite, didn't he say all drug addicts should be shot?

Seriously though, hate radio has stirred up terrible atrocities all over, and now they are making people afraid of potential "race riots" if Obama doesn't win this election. All the while the Repugs are working to steal the election, which might cause some unrest. Nice mix.

It's the same in any community, organization, clan, call it what you will - it's the extremists that somehow dominate the conversation and demonize the other. Christians, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians... the majority are rational, reasonable people who simply differ in opinion on issues but are mostly willing to discuss it or agree to disagree. But it's the nutters that don't want to that get the most airtime.

Part of the reason I think that the Democrats lost 2004 (conspiracy theories aside, which I don't subscribe to) is that they played the same game the GOP did, which was to demonize the other side. Except that the GOP has had a lot more practice, and plays that game better. This year, the Democrats are reaching for the middle rather than pandering to their base, and that seems to be working a whole lot better. The economy tanking under GOP watch doesn't hurt their chances, either, as tragically coincidental as that is.

People aren't - or shouldn't be - easily classifiable into left/right democrat/republican except in the broadest of categories. The "stereotypical" liberal or conservative, if they exist, are ideologues and as dangerous to their own sides as to the other. For example, I call myself liberal, or left-leaning and in most positions I am, but I'm also a fiscal conservative, I want a strong military and I support personal gun ownership (with only reasonable controls). But I'm also pro-choice, anti-war, an actual card-carrying member of the ACLU, etc. What does that make me? It makes me a person who has his own opinions.

Wise words can be sometimes found in the strangest of places. This one I got from a comic book I read when I was 10, and it's stayed with me forever:

"Democracy isn't forcing your idea of what's right on everyone. It's having the freedom to practice your own morality - and the courage to allow others to practice theirs."

We appreciate www.suicidegirls.com. I wouldn't call them lunatics per se because there is a method to their madness. I would say savy capitalist. Fusion is the key to out smarting grifters on the grift.
