Wow! so what kind of effect does it have on a person? Does it make them feel like they are dead? or Just no feeling at all?
-
I bet you, a lot of people or patients will be looking forward to try the new drug. Even though they know so little about it...

Are we striving for greater effect or lower dosage here? Seems like effect of morphine is significant enough without needing something 8x as strong. Drug companies can produce plenty enough dosage on the cheap. Is it for people allergic to morphine or just another thing to make big drug companies rich and keep chronic pain sufferers zombie-like? Sounds like an awesome Kevorkian tool though!

how long before this "non adictive" drug hit the party scene?
"hey kids i have something stronger and faster, wanna try it?"
-
This makes you think about what other medicines and drugs doctors haven't discovered...
-
You would be completely comatosed for days with anything that strong! And there has to be huge side effects, but I guess if I'm sat there with a bone sticking out of my leg I would go for it as well, the stronger the better in that situation!

They're just trying to stray us away form being addicted to drugs they can't tax and pharmaceutical companies can't capitalize on. Nothing new here.
-
this is very interesting - people become very tolerant to morphine, so higher doses do not work on them. also, morphine is very addictive. maybe this drug will not cause the same addictive response, we shall see!

I think thats what Huxley called SOMA in his book Brave New World?

I refuse to believe that it has no addictive properties. If someone has an addictive personality, they can make anything addictive to achieve a high. I have a bad feeling about this one.....

i know most of you are thinking about the people that will abuse this drug...but some people will always find a way to abuse anything in life. you have to think of how this is going to help people that suffer from dire pain, especially chronic pain. many people suffer from chronic pain because there is no cure. the only way to manage it is through pain-killers. since morphine was previously the strongest pain-killer administered in hospitals, people would have to have it every 4 hours to live through life. put yourself in their shoes...

wa-wa-we-wa no side effects means no overdose of death, rite??
-
oh barf, enough with the chems, smoke a joint, eat a brownie, go for a hike, and keep your mind in the right place. Cures everything

I think so long as this is kept to the ones who really really need it, then it's a good thing.
