I know not whether Pius XII was a Hitler youth, however he's not spent 60 years trying to atone for it; he's dead. You see, being pontiff is a lifetime position. But the church WAS singularily quiet during that period, and many abnormalities seem to point to some sort of deal between the two. Only the Catholic church was left alone. And it's never been explained how Hitler suddenly came into possession of a bulging war chest. Not to mention the German population that mysteriously popped up in Argentina. Interesting stuff. Wonder why Benedict wants to make him a saint? Who would pray to the guy? Wall street?

That guy just looks creepy and evil, like the villain from a movie...

As an ex-catholic I must say I do not blame him, Catholics cling to dogma and doctrine and if he said that he did not deserve sainthood there would be a great possibility of backlash, plus as someone who devoted his life to the church he probably doubts that the pope from that era did anything wrong.

Father Pio was actually part of the most amazing Pope's in history, he actually had Stigmas and people re-assured faith with him. This post is ludicrous and misleading. Just because Jews attack the Pope, it doesn't make him Hitler.

And for all those ignorants... Jesus was BORN Jewish!!!

I glad that this story has finally come out. It is true about this Pope, and even when Hitler was killing Jews,Mussolini, along with all of Italy, was the closest of all allies to Germany. The Pope sat by and said nothing.

The church clearly backed the Nazis against the Communists, that is history and cannot be denied. And screw the church for it.

But a saint? Why on earth should ANYONE consider this man a saint?

It is difficult to say whether he was a 'Nazi' or just did not do enough to oppose the Nazis - like the vast majority of people at the time! But even if we agree that the latter is the case, does this man deserve to be a saint? I doubt it!

Hitler was a deviout atheist. But the german population were mostly catholic. If hitler had tried to ban catholocism as a religion (which he would of if he could) he would have been thrown out of power. So he struck a deal with the church. He doesn't mess with the Church, the Church doesn't mess with him.

But aside from all this....GOD DOESN'T EXIST. Jeese people. Open your eyes.
