The retired secretary said that during her youth in the 1920s and 1930s sex entailed marriage - and she just did not buy into it.
Miss Meadmore, of Truro, Cornwall, said she was proud of the fact she remained celibate.
She said: 'People have asked whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no. I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex. I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things.'
She added: 'I've never had a boyfriend - I've never been bothered about relationships. When I was a girl you only had sex with your husband and I never married.'

Correlation does not imply causation - that's her opinion, but the real reason is probably in her genes.

If sex kills, then I'll die a happy man...

What kind of life is that? No Sex?

<insert generic unimaginative comment about a life without sex not being worth living>
This woman is 105, imagine the things she has seen that she, arguably, might not have seen if she wasn't a virgin; the inside of a nursing home for example.

Nah, a month ago we had a guy same age with Habanos, Bourbon, Sex all the way and a wild life...
-
It seems this old lady was caught between generations at odd times, and missed all the advantages of social and sexual revolutions - when she was young she didn't want to marry (good on her) so didn't have sex, then by the time sex outside of marriage was acceptable she was maybe too old to get out there and find some. Crap timing, but as long as she's happy...
It does seem a shame that she thinks of intimate relationships as 'hassle' - 105 years old is an impressive age to reach, but I'd prefer 70 years full of people (and sex) than 105 years lonely.

I bet that, with her genes, if shed had sex, she would look a lot younger, and probably live a couple more years.

Gawd, Just imagine all those missed opportunities to lie there and "think of England and the Queen"
Seriously, I think it's a little odd how we can be proud of the strangest stuff -- "Wow, I'm proud to be a 105 year old virgin," Well, she can be happy with it, there is little choice left for her.

dying without romance what kind of life is that.
-
I'd rather die young than a virgin.

And, she didn't have time for intimate relationships? That's a sign of a psychological disorder if you ask me. Without intimate relationships where would we be?

How did she not have sex, she was so hot!
-
I just have to ask " why does sex have to come with a set of rules or resrictions?"
It is my opinion that all humans have the instinctual urge to "bang" and for anyone to label it otherwise is an idiot.Maybe if this women were born just twenty years later her story would be different.
-
As long as she lived a happy life then I see no problem.
If sex was the number one accomplishment on everyone's mind, we may be screwed... pun intended I guess.
Oh, and just because she didn't have intimate relationships doesn't mean she didn't have loving and emotional one's. Give the old lady a break! -
well that is her choice not to have sex...we have no right to criticize her beliefs

bigloutech, we are human, we reserve the right to criticize anyone and everything. That's what we do best.

...nah, i think we do. and im not simply being confrontational (or at im not trying to be). we all criticize each others beliefs everyday: creation v evolution, christianity v islam, peanut buster parfay v chocolate xtreme blizzard. sure its deep and profound and probably sensitive, but quite honestly, who cares?

Yeah her excuse is ok.
Still, to never be loved. If you call that the secret to life, then keep it to yourself.-

Whatever makes you live 105+ years... as long as you're happy, it shouldn't matter.

I know of a married couple that have not and have no intention of consumating their relationship (for religious reasons). She looks like the most unhappy person. She never smiles or laughs. She's very serious and terribly strict with her children (adopted). It just doesn't seem like her life is any fun.
I'll take 80 years full of sex over 105 without.
