Flashback: McCain Pledges to Run a ‘Respectful Campaign’

What a difference a few weeks and a few polling points can make. Last April John McCain pledged to run a “respectful campaign”—a goal he restated on more than one occasion until around midsummer. He also claimed he respected Barack Obama and would call him “Senator” during debates.

Meanwhile, Cindy McCain has also changed her tune since May 8, when she told “Today” anchor Ann Curry that, “You won’t see [negative stuff] come out of our side at all.” Hmm!

This clip was put together in August, but it merits a fresh look.

Interesting! Let's elect a terrorist for President!!

    That's what I call hypocrisy.

Tdp6. You are spreading the lies that I keep talking about. You are immoral. You believe that telling lies, stupid lies that have NO evidence, is ok in order to win an election. I'm opposed to your immorality, to your tactics. Consequently, if your candidates can't win in a reasonably honest way, he and she don't deserve to win.

Yeah, respectful - is that like saying "that one" in a National, televised debate? Is that like inciting a campaign crowd to shout "Terrorist" and "Kill Him", and not reigning in the violent rhetoric? Is that like continuing to refer to "Senator Obama" as Barak Hussein Obama in these racially polarized, nationalistic, xenophobic times? Veeeerrrry responsible, and just what I want in my president, as we enter the 21st century! These clowns deserve the thumpin' they're gonna get!

    Pssst......Do something!

I don't think that Tdp6 merits your anger, they obviously are just plain dumb.

This kind of hypocritical campaigning makes me glad they're not getting int office.

To all of my Republican associates.

It is not that I disrespect you or your values. It is however, important that you are able to follow through on the promise of your values.

That, unfortunately is not evident from your failed attempts at communication and leadership.

Now, you fall back on name-calling, slander, personal attacks and innuendo. I personally apologize to you and your candidates if some of my Democratic associates have blundered by adopting those tactics. I truly am sorry, because those tactics always work against us.

The best way to predict the future is to create a new one. The best way to follow the sins of the past is to repeat them.

On September 11, 2001 there was a direct attack on Civilization. The best way to respond is to make the world a more Civilized place. We, the American Public should expect nothing less from our President, Congress and Supreme Court.

Our leadership has failed totally in that regard. The tactics of those who would hold on to that tragically failed ideology of conservatism under any nickname show a childish disregard for Civilization. Shame.

And I can say that 'cause I'm a Maverick.

This election is really getting awful. What is this someone said?" Off with his head" somehow, this has got to stop. Someone needs to get people to calm down, Will Sen. McCain tell everyone to calm down and be fair and respectful. Or will President Bush step forward to remind everyone to be good Americans who respect the Democratic process.

I really find it hard to rail against McCain because he did serve his country honorably and was a POW. He did his time and is a true American hero, that is why I do not approve of the McCain bashing by my fellow Democrats, you can say he hasn't a clue on the economy and you can say he did help in creating this finacial mess we are in, but when you start attacking his character and his war record that is despicable. I know the Republicans did it to Kerry ,but Democrats should TRY and hold themselves to a little higher standard. Focus on the issues, and not on character attacks. NOW PALIN IS FREE GAME! SHE DESERVES ALL THE POO YOU CAN THROW!

Uh, yeah Avery, there is ...
He didn't lie about being a vet, a P.O.W. or his heroic behaviour as he served our country (right or WRONG as that war was!)
However...as far as I'm concerned, EVERYTHING else is up for debate!

In honor of John Lennon let's elevate our minds and imagine there is no hatred. The Republican party is well known for racial prejudice. Divide and conquer, that's the strategy.
That BS is from a bygone era, Thank God. Most Americans are smart enough to see through it. Vote for Change. We cannot afford to elect McSame, No Damned Way!

"I will call them Senator...." switches to McCain calling Obama "This one"
John McCain is just being consistently inconsistent and showing his desperation. :)

I am an Obama supporter. However, I have 8+ years in the Army during Vietnam. John McCain is the real thing "hero" He was tortured many times, did he break, of course, everybody does. I don't want to hear he's not a hero because he gave some information, which probably wasn't worth anything by the time they got it. Go Obama!!

The latest isa that Sen McCain came out and said Sen Obama is an honorable man, and no one should be afraid of him becoming President. See! Hero! the real thing.

any service man/woman captured and held prisoner is a hero. I don't judge them not to be if they talk, everyone has a breaking point. they did their duty and fought if they were broken then they should be accepted. As to McSame why did he fight so hard to keep the records of his time as a POW secret? He never lets us forget he was one and what he went through, then he should let us see the printed truth. Sounds to me there is something for him to hide.

Tdp6, you are right on the money! Obama supporters can't accept the facts about"the one" because it would lead them to question what they've been fed from the "media" they so blindly follow. The associations with Odinga, Ayers. Alinski, and Soros, are irrefutable. Oprahma's membership in the New Party is a matter of record, and anyone can read the vaulted birth certificate info for themselves. His $800,000 to ACORN is also a matter of record. Here in OH we have had cats, babies, and dead people registered to vote. Our own secy of state has been found in violation of federal election law for her outrageous bias in a scam we have here called early voting. People who support 'the one" are socialists. They approve of taking my hard earned money and giving it to the 40% of the population who do not pay taxes. Just look at the language they use when they respond-it's angry, and full of accusations of lies. It's all they can do, because they can't provide facts to refute his terrible record and poor character.

Judge Rules Against Ohio’s Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner

Excellent news! But, she isn’t going down without a fight. It’s a sad day in America when an official betrays the trust of We The People. It just makes one wonder how many other officials are actively engaged in voter fraud this year in an attempt to get their red diaper doper baby messiah elected…

This updates our earlier coverage HERE and HERE

Federal judge rules Brunner must check voters

    The Columbus Dispatch

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is breaking federal law by not giving county elections boards the chance to determine whether new voter registrations are fraudulent, a federal judge ruled tonight.

“It is hard to imagine a public interest more compelling than safeguarding the legitimacy of the election of the president of the United States,” said Judge George C. Smith of U.S. District Court in Columbus, in upholding the Ohio Republican Party’s request for a court order.

Smith, appointed by President Reagan, said the Help America Vote Act requires states not only to verify the identity of newly registered voters with the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the federal Social Security Administration, but to provide counties with the names of new voters whose records did not match.

Brunner’s office had been doing the verification but had not made the names available to county elections boards. The judge gave her a week to comply.

However, the judge said he lacked the authority to order the counties to clean up the voter rolls once they had the list.

Smith cited the “millions of qualified electors across the state of Ohio whose confidence in the electoral process will be undermined if new voter registrations are not verified in accordance with HAVA, and if unqualified individuals are permitted to cast votes. This would demean the voting process and unlawfully dilute the votes of qualified voters.”

Brunner’s office said she is filing an immediate appeal with the 6th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals.

"teach"5 : Thats ridiculous. If you want to talk percentages, the top 1% earns 80% of the profits from everyones labor. They Then pay taxes - but it is not equal to the amount of resources that they sponge from society. What about our 700 Billion rushed through that sapped the American people dry to keep the Sponges saturated?

  •

86.0% of all federal income taxes are paid by the top 25% of income earners, up from 84.0% in 2000. The top 50% pay 97% of all income taxes. The top 1% pay 39%, up 2% from 2000. (Source: IRS). The Wall Street Journal:"In 1980, when the top income tax rate was 70%, the richest 1% paid only 19% of all income taxes. Now, with a top rate of 35%, they pay more than double that share."

"The top 1% earns 80% of the profits from everyone's labor"???? What resources do these people "sponge"? Argue in facts, not metaphors. Who are the top 1%? Do your homework.
