Be careful what you vote for because you just might get it

"We are at the point of wrapping up the election season, and once again you have the liberals on one side and the conservatives on the other side. Once again, Americans have the choice of voting for a Democrat or a Repulican, and once again the notion of a viable third party option is not even entertained by the majority of the population.

After Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats failed to do what was demanded of them, which was to end the Iraq war and impeach the President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, one would have thought that the thought of voting Republican or Democrat would be completely unacceptable. Yet, here we are again, forced to choose between a Republican or a Democrat.

Since America, and the rest of the world for that matter, are locked in a left-right political box, so to speak, we are once again forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. And again, it is up to the media to decide who is the greater or the lesser of two evils. But no matter on what side of the political isle you stand, the lesser of two evils is still evil. This is why I say "be careful what you vote for-you just might get it." Don't get it? Well I'm sure you will, so just bear with me and let me explain."

A-fucking-men. I wonder what would happen if they media stations were all blacked out and people had to make their own decisions.

    Would peace return?

Maybe we would't get peace because a democracy is nothing but mob rule and there will never be peace as long as there are groups that oppose each other.

It would be better than what we have now because we would be more more informed voters as opposed to being told what to believe by the media.

Goddamn right. Its disheartening to realize that so many people still turn on the tv in order to "learn" about issues, when in reality most are just looking for others (pundits, anchors, etc) to make their decisions for them.

What is even more sickening is that we allow our candidates to hold rallies where paid men and women in the audience shout out "kill him", "traitor", racists remarks, and other rediculous things while others threaten cameramen while the candidates encourage and smile.

We have created a system in a free country where it is okay to shout out 'kill him"...

The article is pretty long and if you don't feel like reading the entire article you can listen to it here.

You know, I disagree with this whole thing. I'm an Independent, and I have no problem voting for a third party. Just because a "majority" of people wouldn't doesn't mean there's something "wrong" with the system. I do think that other parties should be allowed in the debates, but I'm not voting for Obama because he's the lesser of two evils, I'm proud to support him and I think there are a lot of people out there who feel the same. If you don't support one of the "major" candidates, don't vote for them! Vote for whomever you want!

As for all the media bashing, it's too ironic to put it up on Current! Current is a media form just like any other, and I dare say it leans way left! We're all looking for the "easy" version of the issues because most of us don't have time to spend hours researching everything the way it should- hence the reporters and journalists do that for us! I'm certainly not saying you should believe everything you hear/read but c'mon, if you're posting or replying to things on Current you're just as much in the media stream as anyone else!

Truly enough, i don't trust neither of them..I won't depend on them or anything..
This is society is not exactly fair in a lot of ways..
i disagree with this country, but don't entirely rebel against it...
We won't 'win" either ways, so what is the point?
I say be more independent, and make good decisions, and preserve as much as you can..but that is all that i'm saying, for now.

I think it's funny how one side is so quick to point out the extremist tribalism of the other, all while gnashing their own teeth and raising their own flags and reciting their own mantric dogma. Bigword.

I am a progress too, and even though I'll vote for Obama. Did you guys know that when FDR was first voted in 1932 He was already a very rich man. And did not
have any progressive Ideas, until he was pushed too the progressive side were he became the most progressive president ever. He won a total of 4 presidential election's before he died in office. This man got us out of the first great republican depression, started social security and reregulated the financial system. The republicans have been after FDR"s new deal for 70 years and they have pretty much killed every regulation, bankrupt medicare, social security, and the country. Looks like another dem will have too save capitalism again.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have an election free from biased. You would just get a list of what each candidate supports and condemns. Their speeches would be given by spokes people and you wouldn't even see the candidates until after the election. No prior knowledge of religion, race, age, or any other factors that may biased one's decision.

Also, did I mention no political parties. That would be ideal, but I'd be the first to admit that plan has some major flaws but I'm sure the kinks could be worked out.

Eight Years ago, I said BU$H would give us a Hollow Economy along with Zero Real Growth and evryone thought I wa sbeing extreme...now 8 years and $850 BILLION DOLLARS later, I have proved my point. Voting for McCain is voting for the BU$H DOCTRINE which means MORE WAR with Nuclear Pakistan along with Iran. Do we really want to do that? I give you props on this though, good subject!

did the dems have the numbers to actually impeach bush and cheney? i guess they could have gone through the motions, but it was doomed from the start.

the best thing you can do is get obama elected. the second best thing you can do is keep pressuring after the elections. yes the leaders don't always do what we want, so get out there and make some noise. the obama campaign proves how effective the voice of the people is.

    so stop whining, do something
