ALARMISIM is not to be encouraged, sending mighty palpitations through populations as is its wont. But the opposite, which might be termed the Ostrich Syndrome, might even prove worse. (In folklore, the ostrich, when fearful, is supposed, if sand is thereabouts, to sink its head in it, presumably supposing this renders it invisible!
