The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down.

McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

...Shouts of "traitor," "terrorist," "treason," "liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them...

...Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism...

...Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama...

...I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab."

...someone in Palin's crowd in Clearwater, Fla., shouted "kill him," on Monday, meaning Obama...

Can you believe this!!!! This kind of garbage makes me afraid for Obama's life!! It must be stopped!!

look, you're not helping matters and going off on the wrong tangent. Showing an old Klan rally photo does not help your cause.

Notice most of the complaints are rightwing vs leftwing complaints with a bit of xenophobia tossed in.

What this shows is that the right is losing it in more ways than one. They are loathe to accept the fact that the last 8 years has seen one of the worst presidency this nation has ever had - a presidency which they supported. They are loathe to accept the fact that their side is losing because McCain is seen as little different than Bush and he picked a horribly unqualified VP.

This anger has been there since 1992 when the White House was wrenched from them then along came Rush Limbaugh thus beginning this visceral hatred of liberals - look up Mike Savage for example.

You are actually simplifying it by just making it (pardon the pun) a black-n-white issue of racism.
The right has a lot of pentup aggression and frustration and they don't like losing.

I agree with you in part, SamuraiDave. althought I do believe that now that the McCain campaign is slipping away fro victory and his followers see it, some, and I would stress my use of the word "some". I know quite a few conservatives who I actually respect and are good people. but I digress. Some of his followers are just breaking down. they cannot handle this. and so, they are revealing who they really, truly are. this strain on the right, this white trash, neo-fascist strain is suddenly realizing that Barack Obama will become the next President of the United States. It's been such a long campaign, it's almost like it's not real. It feels like it will just be a campaign forever, but no, the time is here. We're three weeks away and it's like this terrible shock has come over them. that's where we get this vitriol. this filth. it's suppressed racism, xenophobia, and white trash paranoia finally exploding.

they're going to lose and they have left all decency and class behind. they want blood. these people are dangerous.

true, true. I've listened to Savage before. he's a real character. I heard him call for the "militarisation of our kids".

this realy xenophobic, imperialist, militant strain on the right is terrifying.

These hate mongering supports of McCain remind me that we still have a long way to go in this country.

It's like lisitening to Fox Network. Anit-white? ha, ha in a country that would have parties and "photo ops" while lynching and burning blacks at the stake!?

Blacks are only about 12% of the entire population of the US. Domestic policies and practise has left the African-American in no postion to "take over".

Why do I even bother to comment? I was taught that you can never win an argument with a fool.
