Ministers are surveying the wreckage of their plans to extend pre-charge terror detention to 42 days after dropping them in the face of a crushing House of Lords defeat.

The Sun (being the Sun) lead with Smith's defiant words: "It's your right not to be blown apart." Now, while I agree with her on that, I don't agree that holding people without due process of the law for 7 weeks is going to help.
