During that time the boy suffered more than 50 injuries."
This is disgusting. How the hell could they miss this out? I think they should be accounted for some sort of blame. It is a shame that child killers do not get the death penalty here.
The council definitely need to put more training into their staff. What do you guys think?

This story is a collection of errors that resulted in the death of a baby.
What makes it worse is that this is not the first time this has happened in this borough and anything less than those in charge being brought to task would be a sham.

I agree that they should be looking at the way they are run adn the training their staff recieves, and be punished in some way. However, I think we need to remember that the real killers are those who abused the baby.

This horrible story has been plastered all over the news for days and I'm finding it harder and harder to see images of this, it's so upsetting.
I definitely see the point about the death penalty, are people who consistently harmed a baby to this horrific extent really capable of reforming? I think they must be missing the basic component of being human; compassion. How can the prison system reform such monsters?
And then besides all that, there's the shocking negligence of the authorities. How could they possibly have been trained properly if they didn't realise this baby's back was broken???!!!
Disgusting.

Someone needs to be accountable for failing to protect this child and any others. Not just the killers. How could you hurt a baby anyway? As a mother it is beyond my comprehension.

More thanworking toward better training for their social workers, they should be concerned with finding people who are mentally fit to do the job. This kind of thing happens here in the US all the time. We hear about it at least once a week I would say. It is the apathy of the social workers that allows abusers to continue their horrifying acts of violence. I studied social work and psychology in school for two years before I got disgusted enough with the ideals to quit. Caseloads are huge, because social workers make so much money (average $50-65,000/year) they cant afford to hire enough of them. The overworking of these people leads to a hatred of the job and the people they serve. Many will falsify their reports and not make any home visits at all. In the US at least, the entire system needs to be changed. I could go on and on about it, but it would take up too much space. The bottom line is--the general public does not care enough about investing in the social service system to make the changes that could actually save the lives of these children. The social system is at fault, but so is the public at large.
