Alice Cooper comes down on celebrities who publicly support politicians
The star is sick of musicians and actors commenting on current affairs, and doesn't understand why their opinions are taken seriously.
(quite frankly, neither do i...)
He says, "I never understood rock 'n' roll's connection with politics. And I've got to be honest with you, rock 'n' rollers can take themselves so damn seriously - all that, "What I wrote will change the world'. We can't keep giving them this credibility, as if they know more than anybody else. We don't. That's why we're rock 'n' rollers."
And Cooper believes star supporters can even hurt an important campaign - as fans might vote for a politician purely because of the celebrity connection.
He adds, "If a famous star decides that he's going to back a certain politician, all of a sudden the people that really don't know anything about politics, but really like his movies, they go, 'Well, I'll vote for him because the star knows about these things.' He doesn't."

***Also important to mention that Cooper has very publicly supported Bush, and called musicians on the Kerry band wagon "treasonous morons".

Why I liked Current Tv in first place?
When I first discovered Current TV if my memory does not betrayme was back in 2001 or so. I was confined to stay at home for the whole day due to the fact that I had been recently been Bone Marrow Transplanted because of leukemia I had.
From 1995 yo 1999 I went to college in Mexico city where I studied what we call here in the country Social Communications, which is about learning about tv, radio, printed press, film, de3sign, photograph etc, so when we finish school we can work in media.
What was interesting in that time was that I remember that you had an open casting call for all those who wanted to be presenters, or had a video production that wanted to be exhibited in Current TV, but at that time I could not even go out to the street due to my recent transplant so I only browsed around wishing I could do things. But after a while I started to feel annoyed by the fact that I could not even go out my room and stopped visiting Current TV.
Years later, when I was much better, and I could do a normal life like anyone else, I visited Current TV and I saw that you were no longer that website I once knew. Now you had a fee for those who wanted to upload a video, so this discouraged me and eventually I forgot about the website.
Now I am much better than I was in those days ans I even worked in a local radio and tv broadcast station until 3 years ago when I returned to the university to study theater.
In my blog you will be able to read (in spanish) what I've been doing since then and watch some pics and even some times videos.
I thank you because when I recieved your mail asking me to answer your survey I remembered a little of what I wanted those days and I recovered a little of that wish, that might have been lost.

Damon Albarn to release opera album
We already knew that Albarn was working on something big http://current.com/items/88924696_130_musicians_on_damo..., but that his project would materialize in the shape of an album, an opera show and an Olympic mascot for the BBC (?) was not so predictable.
"Damon Albarn's score for the opera "Monkey: Journey to the West" was recorded in London and Beijing with a host of European and Chinese musicians.
The production, which is based on an idea by Jean-Luc Choplin from the original 16th century novel by Wu Cheng'en, premiered last summer in Manchester, England, and will be staged today (July 23) in London.
Visuals were handled by Albarn's collaborator in Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett.
Music, artwork and animations are also being used by the BBC as part of their Beijing Olympics coverage."
