    • Hillary Clinton Got Screwed

The Democratic Party has screwed Hillary Clinton, in a way. Their nominations are largely decided by "super deligates" more than they're decided by the people. Because of this, Florida and Michigan only had half their deligates count, clearly showing us that democracy is a right, not a privelage, simply because they had their primaries early.

Hillary has endorsed Barack Obama in her recent speech, as a way of uniting the party together, or atleast attempting to. What do you think of this? Do you think that the decision made by the party reflects what's better for themselves, rather than what's better for America?

Hillary supports abolishing the electoral college, as well as many other things that clearly put her outside the mold of the party elite. Also, I hope she runs again in 2012. This election has honestly led me to lose my faith in the current political system.

    • Assassination Plot On Barack Obama?

A group of individuals who made vague threats about assassinating presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama posed no threat to the Illinois Senator, US officials say.

The three men in question were high at the time of their arrest on gun and drug charges but would have been unable to carry out any attack, Colorado federal prosecutor Troy Eid says. Any attempts to kill Obama equaled little more than the “racist ramblings of three meth heads.”

During the arrest of the three men, one suspect attempted to escape by jumping from the sixth floor of a Denver hotel, breaking his ankle in the process.

    • Live-Blogging Day 2 of the 2008 DNC: The Hillary Kerfuffle

This article discusses and compares Michelle Obama's DNC speech given Monday evening to Hillary Clinton's convention speech given Tuesday night. Michelle's presentation was found to be fearless in its passionate reminder for us to “strive for the world as it should be,” and a brave defense of maintaining hope in the sometimes difficult pursuit of our dreams.

On the other hand, Clinton's address to the convention's delegates is found to be yet another display of the now well-known Clinton congenital narcissistic conviction of personal and political entitlement. In the end, Hillary's speech was all about her.

The article presents great photographs, a re-playable live-blog of Tuesdays events at the Democratic convention, two videos (including a video of Hillary's speech) and a remarkable photo-gallery that documents the entire course of Obama's presidential campaign, and is accompanied by music audio.

    • McCain stumped on contraceptives and H.I.V.

With Sen. John McCain aggressively courting supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton, some of the most fervent of which are especially concerned with women's issues, the advocacy group Planned Parenthood has been spreading the word about why it believes women should oppose McCain.

Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush's policy, which is just abstinence?”

McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president's policy.”

Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”

McCain: (Long pause) “You've stumped me.”

Q: “I mean, I think you'd probably agree it probably does help stop it?”

McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk Express? I'm not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I'm sure I've taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception — I'm sure I'm opposed to government spending on it, I'm sure I support the president's policies on it.”

    • Clinton Prepares for Center Stage

DENVER – Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton prepared to take center stage at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday in one of the most anticipated moments of the week, even as Republicans intensified their efforts to crash the Democratic Party’s party.

Though it is not the speaking slot Mrs. Clinton would have preferred, her 20-minute address will be closely watched to see how strongly she embraces the nomination of her former rival, Senator Barack Obama, and what message she sends supporters who have remained angry over her failure to win the nomination.

Two Clinton advisers working on the speech said it would seek to balance strong statements of support for Mr. Obama, who continued to make his way to Denver, along with personal expressions of gratitude to the supporters who allowed her to become the first woman to seriously challenge for a major party presidential nomination.

Former President Bill Clinton, who will give his own speech Wednesday, and their daughter, Chelsea, are scheduled to be in the audience at the Pepsi Center. Shortly after noon Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton and Chelsea, who will introduce her mother, turned up at the podium in the Pepsi Center arena to get a feel for the conventional hall. Mrs. Clinton is scheduled to speak at 10:30 Eastern time.

One of the Clinton advisers, who did not want to be identified discussing the speech preparations, said Mrs. Clinton was well aware there would be delegates on hand who remain angry over her loss and ambivalent about Mr. Obama and that she would try to reach those Democrats.

“Senator Clinton’s speech, and President Clinton’s speech Wednesday, will be significant statements about the future of the Democratic Party and the importance of the election of Barack Obama,” said one Clinton adviser working on the speech. With reports of tension between the Clinton and the Obama campaigns streaming through another day of convention coverage, senior aides on both sides sought to tamp down what they said were overblown reports of trouble.

In one show of unity, Valerie Jarrett, one of the Obamas’ closest confidantes, appeared on Tuesday at a large brunch at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel here, honoring Vernon E. Jordan Sr., one of the Clintons’ closest confidantes. The brunch was thrown by Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, and was attended by high-level supporters of both candidates along with a bevy of journalists on hand to witness it.

In a brief interview, Mr. Jordan said the news media were manufacturing a story that did not exist, adding that the two camps were working together smoothly, an assessment echoed by Ms. Jarrett in a separate conversation.

While Mrs. Clinton’s prime-time speech was drawing attention, Republicans were trying to horn in on the act. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who is believed to be a top contender as Senator John McCain’s running mate, was in Denver to offer a counter to the Democrats. In addition, Mr. McCain’s campaign released another advertisement trying to stoke tension between Obama and Clinton supporters.
