    • Candidates as...

You might have noticed (or ignored) the emerging meme on the intertubez of folks using simple visual analogies to convey how they see the presidential and VP candidates' 'attributes' and 'differences'.

Here's one I found on Flickr depicting "Candidates as Telephony"

If you got one, found one or made one, upload or clip it below and we'll make a collage after afternoon snacktime/naptime!

With this piece, I wanted to capitalize on the feeling of freedom that HP's wireless printers affords us. To do that, I take the viewer outside of the home, outside of the office, and use sunlight and a dash of whimsical humor to capture the convenience of wireless printing.

NOW REVISED WITH MUSIC! Thanks to APM.

    • Confidence Is Leaving the Fiat Money System

Were it not for ever-greater increases in central-bank money and the market expectation that governments are about to make taxpayers shoulder commercial banks' huge losses, the fiat money systems would presumably collapse right away.

International interbank short-term lending rates say it all: the latest drastic increases in yield spreads between money-market rates and official central-bank rates are indicative of the growing reluctance among banks to extend loans to each other, for fear that borrowers could default on their payment obligations.

Under today's fiat-money regime, banks, under governments' auspices, increase the money stock "out of thin air" whenever they extend loans. The money supply is built on credit, which, in turn, hinges on peoples' confidence in banks and banks' confidence in their borrowers' ability and willingness to service their debt.

    • Free 3 wishes: Go ahead, rub the magic lamp for your 3 wishes

Go ahead, it wont bite. In fact, when the Genie appears, he certainly wont bite. You have three wishes. The rules are: No wish for more wishes! Your wish must be something you really, really want, but will also help other people in the world too. Thats it! Now...

By hitting the comment button, you will automatically be 'rubbing' the magic lamp. Now, visualize the Genie..yea, go ahead, that wont hurt either. In fact, it's been proved that if you do 'visualize' something, you have a better chance of making that visualization into reality. You know, like Bush and his cronies 'visualizing' taking Iraq with Americans blood and filling their coffers....yup, you get the idea.

Now, think hard for your three wishes. Think that those three wishes are reality...however, you must also think that whatever you wish for has a chance to be broken in the future needing to be fixed or replaced. Not impossible to fix or replace tho since everything can be replaced and everything you won now really wont be around forever.
We only borrow or rent things in this life. What? your home? your car. The government owns your house even if you did pay for it in full since if you do not pay the property tax, you may as well say bye bye to it..and your car, you own that, eh? Not really. The government can seize your rig anytime...even for suspicion of drugs, or any crime..just suspicion! Thats the tip of the iceberg, but you get my point..now back to your free 3 wishes....

Now, you've done all the above, now put your three wishes in the comment section below in this format (or close to it):

      Wish 1
      Wish 2
      Wish 3

You now have your wishes registered with the Genie. But your not done! Smoke a big one, have a drink or two, or whatever blows your kilt/skirt up, and think of your wishes in vivid detail.

Your wishes will come true to most people. If you don't receive your wish within your lifetime, you probably didn't think of the BIG picture and your wish actually did happen! But most people will realize that their wishes will come true if they visualize and believe. Ya gotta believe!

OK, now please post your wishes!
      peace...
ps..thanks to CreativeCow for lending us the magic lamp! we owe ya one CC

    • An Interview with McCain and Obama (In the Year 2012)

      - President John McCain has refused to give interviews or meet with the press throughout his entire term as president. Until now. Since Cracked.com is now the only reliable source of news in America, and since I am Cracked’s Senior Political Correspondent, President McCain has been kind enough to sit down with me for this very rare interview. I enter the Oval Office, and he is already waiting for me. He looks about 50 years older than he did when he took office and a thousand times more tired.

      - President Barack Obama goes on television to address the nation, on average, six times a day. While President Obama is certainly visible to the point of aggravation, he’s (shockingly) given very few interviews. Since Cracked.com is now the only reliable source of news in America, and since I am Cracked’s Senior Political Correspondent, President Obama has been kind enough to skip his post-Brunch State of the Union address to sit down with me for this very rare interview. I enter the Oval Office, and he is seated while an artist diligently paints his portrait.

On Thursday 0600 GMT, Bebo sent up to the stars messages from its members, in a hope for a reply in 40 years time. However the star that they chose to target was Gliese 581C, as they claim that it has the best chance of supporting life.

However, with any small and basic investigation it can be found that Gliese 581C is a well discussed planet that has been found to not be a good candidate to support life forms due research on the effects of the planetary atmosphere. Instead Gliese 581D is considered to be the best candidate to support life forms.

Gliese 581D is an extrasolar planet approximately 20 light-years away in the constellation of Libra. Because of its mass, the planet is classified as a super-Earth planet. Because the planet orbits in the outer edge of its parent star's habitable zone, it is thought that the planet may be similar to Earth.

Now we can ask ourselves, is this a desperate marketing ploy that has not even been researched, or was it a case of Chinese whispers where the words get changed (in this case from D to C), “well hey, those letters do sound the same”.

In all terms, it is a clear case of how we should research before we commence marketing tactics.

    • Trees going extinct

New research by UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Centre has revealed the true extent of fire damage to wild forests in Chile. Two thousand year old monkey puzzle trees have almost been wiped out and urgent action is now being demanded to map and protect the world’s wild forests.

Monkey puzzle treeThe research reveals how the fragmentation of wild forest prevents regeneration and there is growing concern that many living tropical trees are already “functionally” extinct. A new report, Towards a Global Tree Conservation Atlas, claims that one in ten tree species are under threat – with the situation worsening in the last five years.

The monkey puzzle is among 8,000 tree species under threat of extinction – and one of only a handful for which a conservation plan exists. Environmental organisations FFI (Fauna & Flora International) and UNEP-WCMC are collaborating on the Global Trees Campaign which aims to establish the management plans vital for the creation of sustainable forests. An important element of this is the development of a mapping programme leading to a proposed World Atlas of Threatened Trees.
