Palin’s Taking Us Back to "McCarthyism".

The acrimonious language in Palin’s speeches, take us back to "McCarthyism". We've all known that Rightdiculous columnists and their nastier Right-Wing talk radio hacks have been doing this rhetoric for years. And that their ditto heads have been soaking it up, in the comfort of their living rooms, where they shout obscenities and hateful oratory, alone or among their kind. Now McCain’s, VP choice allows them a place IN PUBLIC to caterwaul their Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter induced RAGE. It must be a catharses for the pathetic souls who have been listening and reading the unadulterated animosity coming over air waves or in print, directed at some unknown enemy. They now can UNLEASH the bottled up hatred, in the open and have a recognizable foe, thanks to the self-proclaimed pit-bull. The wingnut goons behind desks or microphones must be MIGHTY PROUD! “HURRAY FOR SARAH PALIN!” they shout. She’s harvesting the grotesque seeds of hatred and distortion we’ve so fervently sewn!

    • 'Minnesota nice': McCain calls for calm

The Friday-evening crowd in the Minneapolis suburb of Lakeville was fired up for Sen. John McCain's arrival for a town hall meeting in a hot high school gymnasium.
The senator's supporters jeer after he calls Obama "a decent person."

They largely felt their candidate was getting a bad shake from the national media, and there was a sense throughout the question-and-answer portion of McCain's event that the audience needed to make a point to McCain.

"I'm begging you, Senator, to give them a different choice on Wednesday night," one woman said to McCain, referring to the upcoming presidential debate next Wednesday.

"The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight this next time you debate," a man said. "We want a strong president to lead us for the next four years."

And a third: "I respectfully tell you that you have to talk a little bit, and bring to the attention of the voters – the press is not going to do it for you – some of the gamey associations, some of the associations that have really marred Obama's life…You gotta do it."

    • Is there a skeleton in John McCain's POW closet?

The Rolling Stone has an article called "Make-Believe Maverick"

23/6 commented on this article, and also referenced John McCain's sensitivity
      to his shortness. (Huh?)

The shortness part, isn't why I am blogging this. Because I could care less if McCain is touchy about his lack of tallness. What I did find interesting was in the comment section, at the bottom of the webpage. A comment made by an ex-Air Force officer, who remarked about John McCain's POW HERO status and lack there of. Now I don't know if this ex-Air Force officer knew John McCain or not. But never-the-less, it raises a lot of suspicion about Maverick McCain's Hero Rank. I can't help but wonder, why the Obama Camp doesn't seem interested in using it, the same way the NASTY ONES, on the other side of the political arena would... (THE RED SIDE)

An interesting comment from demogorgon :

As an ex-air force officer (1962-1967) I'm glad it's finally coming out that this man is NO hero! He destroyed 5 airplanes, admitted that he was a "gambler" when he flew; went in alone on a Hanoi target when the bombing run was being called off; and then tried to "outrun" a SAM missile. Things got SO bad that none of his fellow officers wanted to fly with him and he was being re-evaluated for removal from flying status when he was shot down. Words like "reckless", "intemperate" and "lacks common sense" were part of the lexicon of John McCain, naval pilot. I don't mind the "confessions" while he was a POW, that was pretty much SOP, but what I DO mind is that his so-called "selflessness" when he "refused" to accept early release was anything but...he WAS offered early release because of his family connections, but was ORDERED not to accept it! And now, his never-ending use of his "heroism" as if he'd actually been one. He's been a manipulator and a user all his life...EXACTLY the same as George Bush, each being dismally inept or an abject failure at everything they have "attempted"...other than to use family connections to get ahead.

      (The end of demogorgon's comment)

      ---

Holy, "SOP", Batman! If only one third of this is true... it's explosive.

I also know, why the Obama Camp will not use it... We on the Left are above the shitty shenanigans the right-winged ones use... I sincerely hope Obama can win without the dirty, low-down, character assassination tactics the republicans, in all their hatefulness, rely on!!! Come on America elect decency over unscrupulousness for a change. The peace-of-mind you save may be your own! Also on: http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com
      ---
Excerpted From The Rolling Stone Magazine:

In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches.

    • UK gets a patriot act version 2...

A database costing £12billion – to hold the e-mails, phone records and internet habits of everyone in Britain – would turn the country into a 'stalker state', lobby groups have warned.

The program, which has already received £1billion in funding, is being considered by the government which is in talks with communications giants.

Similar surveillance on individuals is currently carried out by MI5 but needs the approval of the home secretary.

Michael Parker, of campaign group NO2ID, said the project would be a waste of money and called for a national debate on the matter.

'It just shows again this government's desire to turn itself into a stalker state,' he said.

The home office said: 'Ministers are considering what legislation is needed to ensure safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the public.'

The anti-terror Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act already allows sensitive information to be accessed by 653 public authorities.

However, councils have come under increasing fire for misusing the information for 'trivial matters' such as catching litter louts.

More details about the scheme, to be run by the government's spy centre, GCHQ, is expected in the Queen's speech next month.

well looks like their taking a page out of bush's book = /

One of the most disturbing things being recycled from the lead-up to the Iraq war is the blatant manipulation of media outlets by the US and Israel when it comes to Iran. • Washington City Paper Seeks Journalism Bankruptcy

Filing asks court for protection from readers, expectations, standards.

"The journalism/content of City Paper has also undergone a significant upheaval in the age of the Internet. Even before City Paper began placing its stories online, its journalists suspected that perhaps not a great multitude of readers were reading their work. Specific concerns clustered over the paper’s cover story, often a long piece of narrative journalism exceeding 5,000 words. Other questions about reader popularity attached to smaller news stories as well, which often related to landlord-tenant disputes, police misconduct, and, once, the rise of chai.

"The filing will not interrupt Washington City Paper’s operations in the form of blog posts about insects in our buildings, obsessions about Washington outsider-cum-maverick Sarah Palin, and neighborhood observations up to and including "Columbia Heights Day=Dull Times." Erik Wemple, editor, adds: "We love our readers—always have and always will. But that doesn’t mean that we’re above asking the federal courts for a break from them.”

From the report: Some are calling it a Freudian slip. Everyone’s calling it a big mistake.

Hundreds of absentee ballots sent to voters in New York State’s Rensselaer County, near Albany, were printed with Barack Obama’s last name spelled as “Osama," the Albany Times Union reports.

County elections officials tell the newspaper that it was a typo that made it by three rounds of proof-readers. They also said the error affected just a few hundred voters, and that they will re-send corrected ballots on request.

SOctober 6, 2008 Red States and blue states must band together by turning away from McCain and Palin

It should be noted and a grave concern for all Americans that the DOW sank today falling below 10,000 for the first time since 2004. So whatever scare-tactic Sarah Palin used this past weekend telling those gathered that Obama palled around with a domestic terrorist should and must fall flat on its face as Americans are hit by a financial bomb that will affect each and everyone of us.

A few weeks ago, John McCain said of the economy that it was fundamentally strong and reading this report, I am left to ask: Is this the man we need leading the country come November 4th? This personal terrorism we are all feeling is one of his own making since he and Gramm set the stage for it and I cannot stress that enough. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, McCain!
